I think the 6A game will have fewer in attendance because there are factors outside the "fan base" to consider. Lots of T & X fans have younger children who are in grade school who will be playing basketball games, etc. It will probably keep at least one parent home because the trip may not be doable for those families. A lot of "friends of friends", etc come to the Louisville games because there's not much else to do. :lol: A lot of kids from schools not even affiliated with Trinity & X come because they can be dropped off by their parents and picked up later. So, that definitely does impact the attendance.

I think Trinity & X Will still have a very large attendance...perhaps larger than any of the other games, or even all the games combined because they play on Saturday night, versus Thursday or Friday or even earlier on Saturday.

 

I think that it's unfair to single out "Louisville posters" as arrogant. Frankly, it's not "Louisville" fans that people think are arrogant, it's specifically Trinity and X posters.

 

I do not think it's unreasonable to point out that there are arrogant fans in other parts of the state.

 

Don't you think the BG folks will drop off their children... or better yet, attend the games out of curiousity and/or proximity?

It's beyond time to get over this guys. Papa John's could not be guaranteed to be available, so the KHSAA had no choice but to move it. At the time, WKU was the only other stadium in the state that could host the games. I think since then EKU has gotten turf, so theoretically could host the games. They might be more ideal from a location standpoint, but there is literally no other advantage it has over WKU, and are at a disadvantage in most of the stadium amenities. Commonwealth has no turf, SO STOP TALKING ABOUT IT UNTIL THEY DO.

 

When Papa John's can be guaranteed available, you can bet the farm the games will go back there. It's not even a question. Until then, quit your whining and get over it because there's nothing that can be done.

Just wondering since BG hosts the Girls Sweet Sixteen, what are the average crowd at Dibble?

 

Quite frankly other than the teams and their fans, I didn't see many attending the games (locals) that I attended and as far as the business welcoming my daughter and I, nothing and we visited the mall and no signs or anything welcoming the fans!

I don't think you can compare football and girls basketball. I would guess that at the majority of high schools across the state attendance for football far outnumbers that of any girls basketball game.

Sorry, but I was not impressed with your attendance last year. The weather was not the best, but Heck, this is football... the 6A did not produce a windfall for the KHSAA. Let's be honest here...

 

That was because we played SK. If we had played X or Male it would have been a different story. Any time it is one of the former Big 3 attendance will be much better.

There were questions specifically posed about Trinity & X and I answered them. Considering the population in Louisville compared to most areas of the state, then that's a significantly larger number of curiosity seekers. And considering neither T nor X is popular out in the state, nor do the majority of those kids or curiosity seekers have any relatives, neighbors, old schoolmates or friends on one of the teams, then no, I don't expect there will be many BG curiosity seekers. That's not said because I mind, but just that I realize the realities.

 

Frankly, I don't consider myself to be arrogant in wishing it were in my back yard. Nor do I consider any Louisville football fan to be. My hackles are up because it's assumed that arrogance is the reason that when T & X point out that the attendance will be lower. It's simply not arrogance. There are factors that will cause that.

 

I know why it was moved, I agree with it being moved, and I like that it was moved to BG. I'll be there to watch. Unfortunately, I won't be able to see all the games this year, because I can't make the trip both days. If others perceive me as arrogant, then I can't do anything to change their minds. I also don't think I've done anything to warrant that lable. 8 EST, is the T/X game. Thus, much too late to be driving kids to BG and dropping them off and picking them up later. :lol:

Really don't care if it's football or girls basketball, both are State Tournaments and it's a reflection of the Community that my daughter and I felt that compared to the Boys State Tourney in Rupp, the Girls State Tourney in BG at the Mall, the Restaurants and even the Hotels was a none event!

Wow no banner, that is unbelievable.

 

The only "event" in the boys that goes on is at Rupp and the Hyatt.

 

Plus the girls event is staffed by all volunteers I believe.

Like it or not, girls athletics is never going to draw the attention of boys athletics. You have to look no farther than the WNBA to prove this point.

How so? Simon Kenton was in the 6A finals last year against Trinity, and Ryle (now 6A, then 4A) played against Trinity (now 6A, then 4A) in 2006.

 

 

...and as a correction to my post #105, I checked the past winners listing on the KHSAA's website, and Ryle, Scott County, Male and Simon Kenton have made a combined 6 appearances in the "top-class" championship game. I can't believe I left out Simon Kenton - mea culpa.

 

Like I said every other year St. X and Trinity are in the same bracket. Simon Kenton did not have to play either of them until the finals. This year T & X are in opposite brackets and just like 2007 they are both in the finals.
