That's what I have really been screaming...the parking there is awful.....and it will be much worse for the big game tonight.

We loved watching the game at Wku, much better than papa johns! I guess we got lucky and parked right next to the stadium in the garage and we were out within ten minutes of the final horn!

Parking Horrible.

Not all gates open.

Tickets sales horrible.

No coffee at regular consessions.

Smaller venue much better.

GPA-----1.0 or a D Just above failing in my opinion and I did not even add in lack of places to eat without a serious wait.

 

I know a lot of people loved the games and I did to, but overall I just like Louisville better.

I respectfully contest your post. In Louisville they do the EXACT same thing with the tickets and say the EXACT same thing about clearing the place out.

 

Traffic at U of L is horrible as well, though I give you, not nearly as bad as WKU.

 

Tickets - same story at U of L...they only sold tickets at six of the gates at PJCS each year.

 

Stadium - There is no comparison between PJCS and Smith stadium. PJCS is like a tomb for the games. It's empty, quiet and distant from the action. WKU may not be all chair backs (Which by-the-way, U of L is the ONLY stadium in college football that is ALL chair backs), but the other advantages trump the seats...and really, who sits at a State Championship game?

 

Concessions - PJCS is awful in this respect. There is Pizza, Ice Cream??? and Bar-B-Q...that's about it...both venues leave a good deal to be desired.

 

Atmosphere - I agree!

 

Misc - Music too loud? Uh, have you heard the train horn at U of L? Why would you want the music not to be loud? That's the way it is in the NFL? And more over, if anything is too loud it's the announcer at PJCS who just goes on and on and on.

For a comparison sake on attendance and the chirping how attendance would be down.

The difference must have been on the DeSales side (although they did seem to have a good size following at the game). Fort Campbell had many more at the game this year than we did last year as we had more people NOT deployed on game this year. For that matter, some of the folks at the game had just gotten back Friday morning.

I did not read thru this thread but I for one was not happy about the lack of access to the team after the game. Note to WKU, setup each endzone for each team and allow the parents, family, friends and schoolmates the opportunity to greet and take pics and such. I understand that this is a college facility and they obvious follow their usual guidelines but HS State Championships are typically the end of the road for alot of these kids when it comes to playing football and to be denied access to the kids is just ridiculous. JMO.

Agree with you there. But UL was really really bad. My wife almost was arrested for trying to enter the field. So were others which was pathetic on the security part. Their "rent a cops" were just that. But the real police were worse than them.

Attendance improved year to year over 2008 for these finals. 2,606 more saw the 2009 state championships than last year. Four out of the six classes had improved attendance. 6A was a no-brainer to have less, 2A was the other. The largest discrepancies in each direction was +2189 for 3A, and -1594 for 6A. 5A also had a large difference, with 1,489 more attending that final than did last year.

In the interest of playing devil's advocate, these finals were still well short of 2007's finals. 9,281 more attended those than these finals. Even without the 5,734 advantage the '07 6A finals have over the 2009 edition, those finals still had more for the other five classes. Only the 5A finals were more attended this year than that one.

Perhaps classes 1-5 could travel to a new site very few years, and 6A could just be held in Louisville every year. :eek:

I personally liked it a lot better at WKU, and really enjoyed my time there even though I was freezing.

I loved the game at WKU. The best high school Championship atmosphere ever. Just the right size stadium. Louisville can be overwhelming in size. It was easy to get to restrooms and concessions. I felt closer to the game and team than I do in Louisville.

 

Great job to all that worked hard in getting it together.
