September 15, 200917 yr He's just a kid, that's what kids do. As long as she's not permenantly disfigured, he should be alright. I hope you are kidding. I have never touched a female in my life, and if my son ever did, he would have hell to pay. No excuse for this behavior. Simply put, unaccecptable under any circumstance. This is not normal kid behavior. I use the word kid loosely here.
September 15, 200917 yr I don't know of a situation where that would be "OK" either, but I've been around enough college boys and college girls to know that the rest of the story matters. I'm sorry, I have kids that are now and will soon be in this age group and I have a problem quantifying to them any scenario in which there is any plausible story that leads to a young man punching a girl in the face. Just my take on physical abuse.

September 15, 200917 yr :thumb: There aren't many bigger cowards than guys that beat women. True, but about every single one of us here are too big of cowards to tell Ridge Wilson that to his face, so instead we say it on a message board.
September 15, 200917 yr I know of a recent case of a friend where 4th degree assault was completely dropped. Hopefully this happens here.

But if it is (and at this point we don't know), then it should not be dropped. I have no sympathy for a man hitting a woman, period.

September 15, 200917 yr If this isn't some girl crying foul, and the charges end up going through, he deserves punishment. I don't think he deserves to have his scholarship taken away (if he is on scholarship) or to be kicked off the team, but there should be consequences. It isn't alright for men to hit women. On the same token, it's a total double standard for it to be okay for women to be able to hit men. I'm a woman and if I started punching my boyfriend, I'd expect him to defend himself. I don't mean beating me silly, but if it happens to involve a punch so be it. I'm not a helpless little girl and I know if I hit someone I can do damage. We don't know the full details of this story just yet...and when Radfords' Faulkner was arrested a couple weeks ago people were crying, kids are kids, it happens, shouldn't affect his scholarship etc etc, hear the full details. Let's wait it out. Will be sad if it plays out...he's a darn good athlete.

September 15, 200917 yr Well, was it an open handed punch (similar to a flair chop) or was it a close handed, 1994 Mike Tyson style hook. I think this is all relevant. Haha, I'm j/k. I think something like this should result in him missing a couple of games and then let back on. I in no way agree with his behavior, but I don't think it was as bad (again I wasn't there) as the incident with the Oregon player. He is a freshman, kids do make mistakes, and he should pay for it. Any punishment short of stripping his scholarship would seem fair to me. Don't just throw him under the bus to make your program look good, give him a (1) second chance.

I disagree, hitting a girl is much more inappropriate than hitting a trash talking opponent.

A man that hits a women is nothing but a low down piece of trash. No matter what she does or even if she deserves it. A man should never hit a woman for any reason. And being a kid is no excuse he is an adult time to grow up and act like one.
September 16, 200917 yr UKMustangFan me and you must have been raised the same way! If he did it he should be kicked off the team because he's nothing but a coward, any man that hits a woman is low life trash!
