September 16, 200917 yr Drinking is something that kids do. Punching a girl in the face is not, IMO. Absolutely right. :thumb:
September 16, 200917 yr He's just a kid, that's what kids do. As long as she's not permenantly disfigured, he should be alright. :scared: Are you serious?

September 16, 200917 yr I'm sorry, I have kids that are now and will soon be in this age group and I have a problem quantifying to them any scenario in which there is any plausible story that leads to a young man punching a girl in the face. Just my take on physical abuse. If you have a son, I hope he never gets mixed up with an unstable young woman. If Ridge punched the girl (for any reason) he deserves to get in a lot of trouble, but this early in the process I have a problem with people throwing him under the bus without all the facts being presented.

I know what you're trying to say, but there just aren't any facts that can justify hitting a girl. I would love for it to come out that witnesses say he didn't actually hit the girl or something like that, but if he did in fact hit her, it's all on him.
September 16, 200917 yr Drinking is something that kids do. Punching a girl in the face is not, IMO. lol, yes, but both are illegal. And Faulkner was arrested. But I fully expected the double standard here. For some reason people just accept underage drinking and fighting and acting foolish. What Wilson did is obviously not accepted (as well it shouldn't be), and I expected people to cry "punish him to the fullest extent of the law" out of the gate. If we're gonna say this about him, we'd have to say the same thing about Faulkner. I vote we wait and see the story and how it plays out before condemning him. That's what seemed to be the common vote for Faulkner too. IMO if you do something that is illegal, get arrested, etc. while you're on scholarship, the school has the right and should envoke the right to take away the scholarship. Kicking off the team is up to the coach, AD, whatever, but I don't want a school paying for kids who can't conduct themselves, when there is another kid out there who will that needs the money. This goes for the kid who punches a girl, and the kid who drinks and gets in a fight and gets arrested in the process.
September 16, 200917 yr Author I actually know what happened to Faulkner and it doesn't compare to hitting a girl in the face (IF that is what actually happened here). By the way, Faulkner wasn't fighting with anyone.

By the way, Faulkner wasn't fighting with anyone. Good, I'm glad to hear that. And exactly my point, we don't know what happened with Wilson, so let's not condemn him yet. So many jumped to Faulkners' defense, just though I'd offer up some help for Wilson since people have already convicted him. I have a brother on scholarship for baseball. If he got caught drinking, fighting, punching girls/boys, driving drunk, stealing..I'd expect punishment, up to pulling of scholarship/being kicked off the team.

September 16, 200917 yr Yep all boys go around and punch girls in the face.:ohbrother: He is a big tough guy, I mean being able to whip a girl. He must be a bad dude!!
September 16, 200917 yr If its determined he punched the girl there's only one acceptable option. Remove him from the team for a minimum of the rest of the season. If UK decides he needs to removed permanently I'd back them up.

Underage drinking & assault are completely different. Faulkner was convicted of public intoxication & disorderly conduct. That could've been a lot of things, but had he been in a fight then it would've been more than disorderly conduct. It's not a double standard, at all. You're innocent until proven guilty. Ridge Wilson, although accused, remains innocent until proven guilty. For a public intoxication conviction, you're basically proven guilty at the scene or back at the police station.
