sidelinedoc Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Fairview Boys basketball coach, Rex Cooksey, has resigned as head coach. He has stated it was for personal reasons. I am saddened by this news but also hoping everything is ok for him and his family.

billygball Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I had the opportunity to play for Coach Cooksey on his first team at Fairview. He always was a positive coach and believed in everyone of his players. I have always looked up to him and really hate to see this happen. I have watched his son Derek coach the JV team the past couple of years and his players have a lot of respect for him. I think he has the ability to be a very good basketball coach in the years to come.

If there's any silver lining, what-so-ever in this accouncement; it's that Fairview's team is solid.. Derek, or whoever takes the reigns won't have a lot of untapped talent to worry about.. I have heard Jeff make the comment that when it came time for Coach Cooksey to resign that he would have no interest in the job.
