With this week being spring break week and the entire city of Ft. Thomas in Florida, Gatlinburg, or some othe exotic vacation place I doubt any news will hit soon.

Not a lot of "news" out there and this would be a very high profile job.

 

To my knowledge interview process has not formally started yet. Ft. Thomas Schools come back from spring break on Monday. The only official applicant I am aware of is Damon Kelley, former head coach of Lafayette. This is the only solid information I'm aware of besides the old news that Mike Code isn't going for it.

I hope Schumate stays at Beechwood, as I'm sure a lot of Beechies are.

The only rumored applicants that I have heard so far is Mike Flynn, Feldman JV Coach and the former coach at Lafayette.

 

I have not heard of any actual interviews to this point and I am surprised that I have not heard more about Shumate and Carr.

The name of Bob Cowie is intriguing. Former Highlands player that played with Draud and Cox in the late 80's. Does anyone know how his team in North Carolina has been doing?

This isn't going to happen for a few weeks folks............ The story is that Mike Code briefly considered the position and then re-stated that he is not an applicant. Mike was the only "in-house" candidate; being a teacher at HHS & a qualified coach (as stated earlier, it was his job to take) Since he has disqualified himself as an interested party, it will remain open until late April.

 

The deadline for submitting retirement notice is April 15th.....at that time HHS (and applicants) will know what teaching positions will be available. There are already some applications accepted but others will likely be predicated on whether they can also teach at HHS as well. Bottom line, until late April when they actually compare the applicants, there will be no news, only speculation.

13-10 this season, lost in the first round of the 1A/2A Southern Piedmont Conference tournament.

Actually I talked to Coach Dawn the other night at a function and he is very, very happy and content with the girls position at NCC. We did talk some hoops specifically girls and his NCC girls should be the favorite to be All A State Champs and wouldnt surprise me if they dont win the region next yr. Besides that Iam with BirdHustle, no way does he leave NCC to go to HHS. Remember this is High School and not college where money does not come into play but loyalty certainly does.
