Highlands Coaching Candidates?

Featured Replies

:idunno:Is there an inside joke there? Why would anyone think he would have a shot at this job? I am not knocking him at all. Highlands is probably one of the top 5 jobs in N. Ky. They will hire either an inside candidate or a proven head coach at another high school.

This is their only hope for continued success and future runs at the 9th Region crown.

They have to find the person that will create a high profile for the program. Someone that will have the kids coming out in droves for the teams. Someone who will have players wanting to come to Ft. Thomas to play in the program. I'm not sure how many of the aforementioned prospects fit that bill. Definetly no insiders fit that description.

Then they need to look downstate. Bring someone from a bigger stage. Damon Kelley, as I mentioned before, is a name I've been told is on the candidate list for sure. Who else from Lexington, Louisville, or other big stages could be interested?

Might be hard to snag someone like that Malachi with Highlands being a Football school.

I wonder if Jaime Walz Richey husband Bert is interested in the job. He is listed as an assistant right now for the girls program. Bert would be an excellent choice to consider.

What background does he have?

It can be done. Do think otherwise is defeatist.

Girls HC at Grant County. Thats all I know. Doubt if he's a candidate.

Thanks MC.

I wonder if Highlands will hire the coach through a committee like they did when they hired Willie? If its true they offered Mike Code already and he shot it down then I guess gets thrown out the window. :idunno:

Henley, Faust, Dawn, or Stowers. Thats the road I'd go down..

What about James "Buddy" Biggs I believe he has ties to the Northern Kentucky area, only question is has the star been dimmed in the last couple of years. I never thought he would be totally happy at Ashland, thought him taking that job was out of desparation to what Pendleton had coming back in 07!

I would love to see Ron Dawn cross back over to boys basketball and take over the program.

Yeah me too. I heard here recently that Ron called a coworker of mine(probably one of the best basketball referee's to walk the court) last year about the Cooper job and asked him what he thought about that position. So maybe coming to Highlands isn't out of the question.

I can't imagine Dawn would trade the colors of blue & gold for blue & white. I just don't see it!
