I didnt ask "why" would Highlands want Brad Carr? I was just gaging the interest of the Highlands faithful. I know a few Highlands folks who aren't high on him. But, I guess you can't argue the numbers. I heard Highlands may be looking at the Lafeyette coach. How do the Highlands folk feel about that?

 

Not to mention, if he has done so much for Scott, I wonder how Scott fans feel about it.

It is four. Also I think his fast paced play is the type of style the current group of Bluebirds need.

If and when he leaves Scott will have a tough time finding someone with the coaching abilities he has.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Should be an interesting topic to follow. Highlands has some good (senior to be) players now. Returning most everyone I believe. Wonder how Carr would shake out after they all graduate? Some good younger talent there he could develop. Cool.

Not going to have to worry about this because he is not leaving Taylor Mill. I know for a fact if he was to leave Taylor Mill, it wouldnt be to Highlands and he would be leaving for another job if another coach left the school. So dont get all excited about Carr going to Highlands and Scott fans dont get upset because he is staying put.:thumb:

I am sure they aren't the goal of Scott either. Just pointing out that he has done more with less than most coaches. Scott would not be considered a hotbed of basketball talent during his tenure at Scott yet he manages to go deeper into tourney than coaches who have significantly more talent.

But, what about O'Connor, Smith, Murray, and Gligorevic? I would say that is some decent talent. I believe even you have strongly argued their talent and potential. If not better than a regional semifinal with these guys, then who or what does it take?

 

I'm not arguing against Carr at Highlands, a coach that will win some games for sure. But, what do you all think about him getting to that next level? It will be interesting to see this play out.

Gligoravic was cut from 7th grade team and rarely got off the bench as an eighth grader. I am not sure he was a full time starter on the freshmen team. Gligoravic and Murray played on a freshmen team that won 5-6 games.

 

O'Conner played a lot of AAU but was considered a project going into the program. Smith was probably the most known quantity coming into the system but it would be hard to argue that he didn't make huge improvements within Carr's system.

 

These guys weren't winning middle school championships or freshmen championships. No one was coming onto these boards after Gligoravics or Murrays freshmen year and projecting All Region caliber players. The success comes from developing within the system.

You are right, he did develop these players. But, they are good talented players. I dont know that it would be right to say that he has done more with less. Whether these kids were winning championships in 8th grade or not, they still ended up to be pretty talented, right? So if not more than a few runs to a regional with these guys, then who?

 

Does anyone know, does Scott have a good young group of talent on the bench? (I know Kellen, but other than him)
