LN, I would usually agree with you, but this seems a little silly to say gas prices would keep HHS away from traveling to Louisville. Even if gas were $10 gallon, don't you (and HHS administrators!) think the huge gate would more than offset any additional cost........I'm as big a HHS fan as any, but that would be a totally inappropriate reason not to travel to the Ville to play T if in fact all other logistics could be worked out! You can't be serious!

 

It's not just the cost to the team to travel their, but also the cost to their fans. A game on friday may cost most people 5-10 bucks if you buy something at the concession stand. Now if they're having to drive to Louisville and back in one night, and gas is still around $4.00. That game is now costing someone $25-30 to attend.

Colerain will be the best team in Ohio next year. If Spencer Ware does end up there, it will be a triple option attack with a QB that is more than solid in the passing game. If not it's Tabar at QB and Williams and Durham picking up big chunks of yards on the ground. Either way, they are the team to beat in 2009...

I don't know why Colerain wouldn't just schedule St. X or Trinity if they wanted to play a good Kentucky team. That's a little more on their level IMO.

IN MY OPINION, I can tell you that IF Spencer were to materialze at Colerain next fall, he most certainly would NOT be the QB. You don't take a starter with a full year experience at the QB position in the Triple Option offense out and replace him with someone who has never run that offense in his life.

 

Especially when you have State Championship aspirations.

A LOT of the better teams, mostly large, cant find other Ohio teams to play them, some of this is due to the Harbin system, the thinking is why play a strong team when it could hurt your playoff chances.

It's my understanding that Trinity which is already playing Cincy X in Cincy, tentitively had agreements with Elder and Colerain for next year. But due to all needing home games, they were not able to reach a final agreement. I am sure Manual will play them at Manual Stadium. The only reason Trinity played Cincy X at Papa Johns this season was due to the power outage that hit the city this past fall.

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the administration in Ft Thomas saying that they are going to cancel a game in Louisville because it will cost their fans extra gas money.

Second, I don't know that gate revenue sharing was ever offered, so the concept raised by Weasel of the gate proceeds outweighing the transportation costs might not be applicable. Third I agree with you that the HHS administrators never factored in the extra gas money cost to its fans because I don't think the discussions ever got that far and if they had worked everything else out, then I doubt that the fans' gas cost probably would have been a deal breaker.

There are not many programs that could demand that kind of arrangement to get a deal done, but HHS could in my opinion.......The only other game Trinity might schedule with more fan interest with a Kentucky team would be X. Just me thinking about something I'm not really sure would be possible.

I admire duPont Manual for playing the competition necessary to get better so as to be able to compete with the Big 2 in Louisville.

It makes no sense to try and get a game done with a worthy instate opponent that everyone wants to See?.....YOU make no sense. Trinity goes on the road all the time to play big time competition, and surely they don't get the majority of the game gate all the time. Don't think for a minute that a T and HHS matchup coming off a Championship year for both doesn't peek the interest of high school football fans all across the state......If I'm not mistaken there might also be some revenge factor involved for Trinity.....since HHS beat them in their last head to matchup....Great excuse thought for T if they don't want to face the possibility of losing to little old HHS......We couldn't possibly compete with T!
