I'll take that call. I saw that team and even then I remember thinking, "Wow...this team is good and quite frankly, they beat us this year." And that was the year Elder went on to win the State Title and lost to Colerain by 1 point on a missed XP in the regional final.

 

They were good...very good. But I think with Spencer in the backfield, the 2009 Cards could be even better. :scared: :banana: :banana: :ylsuper:

Indeed. I had a hunch you saw that team and how amazingly good they were. I have them slightly ahead of the 04 Cards as the best I've ever seen in person.

 

From what I know it's about 90% that Spencer will be at Colerain next year, if not sooner. It's also a situation that could change on a dime because of several factors...

I think the title goes to a team from California-Bloomington high school, in 1994.

 

They were coach by Don Markham the innovator of the double-wing offense.

 

They scored 880 points in 14 games and were undefeated. That is over 62 points a game a national record that I believe still stands.

I don't know why Colerain wouldn't just schedule St. X or Trinity if they wanted to play a good Kentucky team. That's a little more on their level IMO.

Manual is a good KY team, and one of the bigger programs in the state. Scheduleing like this will only make them better.

Will they play this game at Papa Johns or at Manual ?

Manual seats 11,000, and they typically have filled up for bigger games like vs Trinty, StX, and Male. I would suppose that the crowd would be big to make a tight fit but still enough to play the game in historic Manual Stadium.

No question. We will play the game at Manual.

 

Realistically, I would expect that Colerain will travel 1-3 thousand people. I would be surprised if it was more than that.

Not to hijack the thread (like that hasn't happened!), but....

 

Colerain '04 over Warren Central '03. No question in my mind. And the simple reason is DEFENSE. Warren Central does not have nearly the success running the ball against '04 Colerain than they did against everyone else. Nobody ran the ball on Colerain in '04...NOBODY. And conversly, I wasn't overly impressed with WC's defense. I think they were average, but with Colerain's ability to eat up clock on long, sustained drives and always finish, WC wouldn't have the ball enough to score enough to win.

Yes you could, but keep in mind you have approximately 1000 MORE boys in your school than we do and we could STILL probably give you all you want in a game and even beat you every so often if we played annually. JMO.

I see what you mean .... but the reality is ... Spencer probably already realizes that he isn't going to be a QB in college. If anything .. this could be a smart move to help him make the transition before he gets there.

 

I would say that there could still be a chance that Ware plays QB .. but I just don't think that there is anything over 5% or so.

 

Tabar can run the option ... and does a good job. When Ware playing a different position ... it makes it significantly harder to stop the Cole'train offense. (As if it isn't hard enough already).

 

As far as staying at Princeton? Nah ... he is already established as a huge recruit. Why not get a ring? Or at least have the chance to play for one (especially if it gets him ready for a position change in college). Heck .. Princeton may not win 5 games next year.

This game vs. Manual will be Week 3 of the season for both OH and KY. In 2009 it will be at Colerain. However, I believe in 2010 we will be gassing up the buses and heading south on 75/71 to Manual to play.

 

Which leads me to another question: How many NON-Manual fans show up for this game? I know everyone will focus on their teams that night but if your school has a pushover opponent at home or they are traveling too far for you to drive, would you consider heading over to Manual and seeing the Cardinals play? Would some T or X fans like to see what all the fuss is about??

 

I ask because I don't remember the last time Colerain ever traveled INTO KY to play a varsity contest. In fact, I don't know that it's ever happened.

Week three next year in Louisville has St X Cincy coming to louisville to play St X louisville that same night. That would probably be THE GAME of the evening to attend. It is only about three to four blocks away from where manual plays their home games. So, attendance would be up to Manual to bring and not depend on others to be there.

My guess is that the only week that Highlands could have played Trinity was either the game against Beechwood or one of the two games scheduled against Ryle. Don't know if Trinity had one of those three weeks open and whether they were willing to come to Highlands. We had already committed to play Manual in Louisville and I don't think Dale wanted the expense of another long bus trip to Louisville to play Trinity next year. And with Boone agreeing once again to start playing us again, I'm sure that Dale wasn't going to turn them down (admittedly Boone is not Trinity, and I don't mean that to be an insult to the Boone folks, but it is a traditionally talented football team in our back yard). With Boone having a lot of talent returning next year, they should be very good and a good challenge for the Birds.
