That's what I was thinking as well but CF was convinced you should still start Tabar because he's been in the system for over a year.

Scout has him in there Top 100 for 2010. They have him listed at RB FWIW.

You use him to take advantage of Ware's ability to throw the ball. He's not going to be a QB at the next level, but the things you can do with him throwing to someone like Tabar in space have put two kids in the BCS already...

Colerain is coming to the ville and their not playing T/X. Tell us why T/X couldnt get this one on their schedule !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I, for one, have no desire to see us play Colerain. I'm perfectly content for us to play our in-state neighbors and fellow Catholic schools from Ohio. I would love to see us get St. Iggy on the schedule (a current Trinity teacher is an alumnus).

 

But back to Manual. This is a great thing for them. Good luck and have fun during this one.

Bolden would be wasting a lot of talent if that's his role. I'd stay at Princeton if that's the case...

I see what you mean .... but the reality is ... Spencer probably already realizes that he isn't going to be a QB in college. If anything .. this could be a smart move to help him make the transition before he gets there.

Tabar can run the option ... and does a good job. When Ware playing a different position ... it makes it significantly harder to stop the Cole'train offense. (As if it isn't hard enough already).

 

As far as staying at Princeton? Nah ... he is already established as a huge recruit. Why not get a ring? Or at least have the chance to play for one (especially if it gets him ready for a position change in college). Heck .. Princeton may not win 5 games next year.

Remember what I said earlier. It's likely he never plays a down at the next level. The kid flat out loves baseball, and is a bigger prospect in that sport. And you said it's likely he doesn't see much time on O at Colerain. As strictly a DB, it's pointless to even make the move. He's likely a RB if he does pick football over baseball...

I don't know why Colerain wouldn't just schedule St. X or Trinity if they wanted to play a good Kentucky team. That's a little more on their level IMO.

Yes they may be at their level but it wouldn't help Colerain if they lose to them for the playoff points. Manual is the perfect foe for their playoff system in that they get a big school with Division 1 points with a bunch of wins ( secondary points) Highlands is admitably too small on the first points because of enrollment. Colerain was close to not making the playoffs a couple of years ago and had to depend on Highlands turning around their season. Understand that Colerain doesn't play in the GCL and their league is improving ( see Middletown, Lakotas) but their have a lot of Fairfields in their league that they play and destroy and get hardly any points for.

I understand .... and agree to a certain extent. But ... just because he loves baseball doesn't mean that he doesn't enjoy football enough to play it. I also see where, if he is undecided, that it benefits him to play football at Colerain (and I don't think that hurts him at all in baseball--even if Colerain is horrible). It is easier to go the baseball route (sheer numbers) than football--and that is where the move to Colerain would benefit him. Not to mention--he has a better chance to play for a state championship.

 

I still only see the possibility for spot duty on offense. Who's place would he take at RB? The Train is loaded there. I can see a much bigger need on defense--with some "athlete" duty on offense (which really helps Colerain--because they can keep their basic offensive philosophy--but become harder to defend by putting Ware at different spots all over the field). If he is at running back ... I think it will be easier to stop him--and his value isn't close to where it could be for the team.

 

As far as why this is happening ... someone answered it right earlier with one word "MOOOOOO". In the end ... Colerain has a hard time getting teams to play them. So when someone steps up ... it is a good thing for both programs.

They usually play one or two "marquee" match ups per year. As NCF stated, last year they played Mckeesport, PA in the Herbie at PBS, and Highlands at Colerain.

 

This game could very well be the one that will be played in the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Paul Brown Stadium. Not sure if Colerain is playing in it or not, but that's the only reason I can think these two would be playing a regular season game.

Which leads me to another question: How many NON-Manual fans show up for this game? I know everyone will focus on their teams that night but if your school has a pushover opponent at home or they are traveling too far for you to drive, would you consider heading over to Manual and seeing the Cardinals play? Would some T or X fans like to see what all the fuss is about??

 

I ask because I don't remember the last time Colerain ever traveled INTO KY to play a varsity contest. In fact, I don't know that it's ever happened.

These are all excellent points and I agree completely.

 

My completely uneducated guess is that there is plenty of room for him the backfield. You have to go back a ways (2000/2001) but there was a time when Colerain ran the Triple Option out of a 3-back system. With what we are doing now, it is fairly clear when RB Tyler Williams goes in motion which way the play is going. But imagine both Tyler AND Spencer in the backfield. Who gets the ball? Which way is the QB going to go with it? What if he hands off to the FB, or keeps it himself?

 

Literally, the options are endless. If the Cards decide to use Ware in the backfield, it COULD be the most prolific offense to never throw a pass in high school football history. Literally, you would have 2 SR's and 2 JR's in the backfield, all with D1 talent. Sick...absolutely sick.

 

However, I want him on defense. He is big, fast and strong and likes to hit. Defense wins championships and to see him as a ball-hawking safety would be a dream come true. For those that have seen him play, can you imagine the energy that would come the minute he picks off a pass or picks up a fumble? Goodness gracious...that kid can make you miss in a telephone booth he is that good. You'd be looking at a "pick 6" close to half the time.

 

Either way, I'm not too worried. Colerain's coaches have always found a way to get the most out of the talent they're given. With the possible exception of Eugene Clifford a few years ago, I think we've done a great job getting players to play a little above their talent level.

 

Should be fun.

With Colerain being a legit title contender not only next year but also 2010, I can see many fans in the L'ville area making the trip to Manual to see the Cards.
