Is there a requirement for AAU coaching? In soccer, a "select" coach must pass a certain liscencing test, and the higher level of play, the higher liscence is needed.... I've just noticed that a large number of AAU coaches have very little knowledge of the rules...

I need some help, who are the top 10/u AAU teams you have seen so far and which division will they be playing in?

 

From NKY the Wildcats and Wolfpack should both be good Div. 1 teams as well as several other teams that should be able to compete for Div. 2.

NKYWarriors 14U have two game this sunday to finish their regular season at SOAS. They play OldSpice Redzone and Wolfpack (Warning), one being a makeup game. Once the season concludes I am sure they will be looking for some nice tournaments to enter. If anyone has a link to a good site for tourneys in Feb/March/April please post. I am hearing HOOPS, Indy Fieldhouse, etc.

TAlked to Warriors coach and it looks like they will be doing the 2nd winter session and playing a couple tournaments. I will let you know though if I get any links.

Flight play at 2 and 3 tomorrow over at Sportsville, and I'm sure are getting in the 2nd winter session but that isn't confirmed as of now..

For all the AAU naysayers...... Do you think it was his school team or his AAU team that prepared Mason Monroe to develop his skills to play and start varsity as an 8th grader????? Just curious......

I have no idea who this boy is or where he plays-- but maybe it has nothing to do with either. Quite possibly he worked hard growing up playing in the neighborhood/park/backyard courts with friends and / or siblings. I would guess neither team gave him his size or strength that makes him competitive at a higher level.

 

I have always believed that great players in any sport are made in the offseason. The problem is there is no offseason. AAU has replaced the offseason.

I'm pretty sure his AAU team didn't play 12 months per year, Maybe 6 or 7. I asked the question already knowing the answer. I didn't mean to get into a shooting match with you, I was just jabbing one at the blah, blah, blah AAU ball is the devil folks.:laugh:

The Bulls beat the Flight by about 17 at Sportsville tonight, then had it handed to them by the Avondale Bulls (JV team?) by around 18. They had a couple of kids 6'4-6'5 that could play some ball!! Not making excuses because the Bulls (NKY) played like some of them didn't want to be there early, but started to cowboy up in the 2nd half!

I don't know if either team can compete on the D1 level. Most D1 teams come out of the woodwork with big kids. Neither of these teams have a center. Both are very good teams but need a true bagger inside. Wildcats lost last night to the Cincy Knights team that was top 8 in Nationals last season. Wildcats led early but couldn't handle the Knights size in the end.
