January 4, 200917 yr I don't know if either team can compete on the D1 level. Most D1 teams come out of the woodwork with big kids. Neither of these teams have a center. Both are very good teams but need a true bagger inside. Wildcats lost last night to the Cincy Knights team that was top 8 in Nationals last season. Wildcats led early but couldn't handle the Knights size in the end. So this doesnt prove they should be playing D-1 at state? Instead they will be playing a bunch of school teams. IMO that is the problem with northern ky basketball right now, everyone is afraid of competition. Go get beat and get better or just stay average. Only local team that plays D-1 in every age group is the Tarheels. :thumb:

Pretty sure the 3rd and 4th grade state was won by NKY teams. I know the Shinning Stars and Patriots both won state in older age bracket and I believe DI. I would agree about the Tarheels. They almost always play up a grade level all season and don't worry about their record. Probably why Holmes is so good and will continue to be. I wouldn't say that NKY coaches are afraid of competition. I know the NK Wildcats play the Knights and Lakers out of Cincy, every chance than can. They go to Indy to play some top teams from out of state and I know the 4th grade Wolfpack does the same. Other teams such as the Omega teams and even the Suns this season have traveled all over to play against teams like the Central KY Tigers, Cincy Knights, and teams like that. I do know the NKY Wildcats will be playing DI at State and Nationals.

In addition to everything JC43 pointed out, I would guess that the U12 at state this year will have the Wolfpack (Moeves) and Omega (Pangallo) going deep. If they don't come out with the title, it won't be because there is anything wrong with NKY basketball.

January 4, 200917 yr I have a question for some folks out there who coach AAU. I have a few kids on my team that I coach and its a school team but they are pretty darn good for 2nd graders. I am looking to either pick up 3/4 more kids after our school season and look for some 2nd grade tournaments or maybe a competetive league. What is out there for 2nd graders as far as competetive ball? I have them running some of the flex offense already and they do a great job of being aggressive and looking for the open man. We play on 9ft rims as well. If anyone knows of a 2nd grade team looking for 3 very good athletes in the 2nd grade contact me as well because I'd like to see these kids get on a competetive team and play some kids from around the state. January 4, 200917 yr They play on Sundays in the ST. Catherine league in Ft. Thomas. They go to Johnson Elementary in Ft. Thomas. I know one would be a grade exemption as he just turned 8 this past September and is a 2nd grader.

January 4, 200917 yr They both work together with both groups, head coach for 1 and assistant for the other. IMO they do a pretty good job with the kids.
January 5, 200917 yr The Bulls ended up in second this afternoon at the BCI tourney. They defeated the Wolfpack by around 12, then lost to the Avondale Bulls by around the same margin. Sampson played one heck of a tourney...kid could not miss!!! Great effort by all of the Bulls though! They shared the ball, played great "D", rebounded...fun to watch what these kids can actually do when they make up their mind to play!

They beat Old Spice Red Zone by 35 to 23 this morning and beat the Wolfpack (Warning) tonight 44-33. Colin Dupont led them this mornign with 13pts and three 3pters. Donovan McCoy and Nathan Grosser shared scoring honors tonight with 11 a piece. Warriors are playing some very good ball as of late and looking forward to the tourney in 2 weeks.
