  1. Great showing for WV! Is that Sullivan coaching the 6th grade??? WOW! That's one heck of a middle school coach, 6th, 7th or 8th!!!!
  2. Big difference from the Mayo/Walker era.... Way to go Breds!!!!
  3. Who does Conner and WV have at the 6th grade level? Who guarded Barker for Conner from WV? I would think he would be a matchup problem for WV and the 2 guard for WV would be a match up problem for Conner.
  4. 7th grade win is big, considering the talent of the Conner team. I would have to politely disagree with McNeil being the smoothest 7th grader in the state. I would agree with NKY, state - I'm thinking there are a couple of players in that mix, if not better. He definitely has a quick release on his shot and sees the floor well.:thumb: I'm gonna guess the 8th grade game was a blowout for Conner?????
  5. I hate to disagree, but an inadvertent buzzer that creates an unfair advantage results in the possessing team taking the ball out of bounds close to the proximity of the last possession of the basketball.
  6. Do you think many U13 or U14 teams from KY will play in the Super Regional in early April at KBA? Sometimes this event has brought in some very good nationally ranked teams. Thoughts??
  7. I'm curious who will be the D1 teams in U12 and U13 this year. Any ideas????
  8. :thumb:Amen! Most kids are never taught the fundamentals of man and are used to playing just zone, that they can't do both. They don't know how to help or deny when their man doesn't have the ball, just as much as playing good on the ball defense.
  9. Which is why Mason should have gotten the ball out of bounds and no points awarded due to the inadvertent buzzer. Great point Pressrow!
  10. Mason's size and athleticism was pretty impressive tonight. It will be a tough game tomorrow either way. This could be game 1 of 2, the next being the 10th region finals!:thumb:
  11. I'm pretty sure his AAU team didn't play 12 months per year, Maybe 6 or 7. I asked the question already knowing the answer. I didn't mean to get into a shooting match with you, I was just jabbing one at the blah, blah, blah AAU ball is the devil folks.
  12. For all the AAU naysayers...... Do you think it was his school team or his AAU team that prepared Mason Monroe to develop his skills to play and start varsity as an 8th grader????? Just curious......
  13. An 18 or 19 year old's physical makeup is definitely different than a 17 year old! In fact if we polled the board, most people would say they grew in height after they turned 18. Not by much, but still a difference.
  14. Both are exemptions by a couple of days, with birthdays in August. It's not like they are 6 month to full year exemptions.
  15. There are also poor coaches in school ball. Great posts by southernky and afiguy. AAU was designed to develop young athletes into contributing adults. Similarly, schools are supposed to do the same thing. Unfortunately, in both areas their are a few bad apples. I'm sure we can agree on that Weakside;)
  16. The official can't - Only the individual working the "official book" can change the score after conferring with the officials. The official in question likes to be the center of attention. I was also curious as to what happened to have 3 officials on the floor. Very interesting???????
  17. After hearing about and seeing Shane Hall in action, I would say he's probably more like top 5 in the state, maybe top 3! The kid is a stud and can play all 5 positions on the floor.
  18. Until Mesmerized Mike and Krazy Katie hire a GM, the Bengals will continue to flounder in futility. They burnt out a good coach and trying to wear down a future Hall of Fame QB. However, if I'm in their shoes and I'm making the profit they make year in and year out, I'd probably continue down the mile of mediocrity as well! Go Bengals - I'll just be watching for free from home, if at all.
  19. WOLFPACK Sweep tonight at 8:40 at SOAS. Both Wolfpack teams that played at 8:40 won their respective games. Court 1 was the Meiman 8th grade team beating the Warriors by a couple in OT and Court 2 was the Geiman 7th grade team beating the 8th grade Outlaws by 1. If the Geiman 7th grade team has all their players, they might pull the upset in the league tournament?????????:sssh:
  20. Your comment is strange. When is playing a sport at the middle or high school level (school or AAU), not about winning????? A school team of 7th graders could all be kids who should be in the 8th grade and so on and so on and so. Why are their no rules regarding that? Because, as I've said before, as long as you are eligible by KHSAA regulations to play athletics your senior year of high school - it doesn't matter how old or what grade they should be in. PLAY BALL!!!!
  21. He's definitely a player - but not not top 10 in the state. SouthernKYHoops maybe you could help us out with that list. He's probably not even top 5 in NKY - Brandon Hatton, Nick True, Tom Deters, Tanner Moeves, Zach McCormick, Jalen Beal.....etc...... He's definitely a player though!
  22. Why do we constantly have this discussion regarding what it should or shouldn't be????? The rules are the rules, play by them or don't play........... We're talking about AAU not KHSAA. No disrespect to catfan or bluenation, but the argument that "it's not fair" or "it's not right" plays into an attitude of entitlement. We should teach our kids to deal with the circumstances they are dealt and teach them to learn how to be successful inside of the rules. That's what sports are all about anyway. Teaching kids how to be successful, regardless of the circumstance. Again, no disrespect, however, it gets tiring to see the same thing hashed over and over every time about this year. Let's talk about AAU basketball, the teams and the players, - NOT THE RULES we agree or disagree with. The latter is no fun! GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS COMPETING FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE AAU STATE TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR!!!!!
  23. I'm pretty sure both teams are missing their best players......
