My posts were more about the attitiude of some of the ref's. Refs are humans they are going to miss calls. But when a ref wants to soapbox or jaw with coaches, players or fans, that's when it's bad. Being a ref is choice. If you make that choice you must consider the consequences of that choice. If you don't like the consequences don't ref.

Are you talking about the CC Gold 7th grade? They haven't won a game yet. Unfortunately, at CCMS, except for McGovney and 1 or 2 others, our 7th grade has NO talent.

I'm not looking to "threadjack" (nice), but I will say that public schools could have the advantage over private schools if they so desired. They have the facilities and funds that private schools typically don't have. What public schools don't have (usually) are the inspired! Coaches who are there to benefit the guys and girls they coach, not to pad their retirement. Fans and parents who want to see all children succeed, not just have their child get the spotlight. Those two things, along with passion, is what most private schools have that public schools lack.- Middle School Basketball
The better argument is for public high schools to step up and provide competition to the private schools. Public schools have the ability, if not more, to do alot of the same things that private schools do, except that choose to be complacent. Campbell County comes to mind as a complacent public school. Highlands is a prime example of a public shool that competes with private schools. Qryche, you went to Bellevue and now your son will??? attend Highlands, I think. What's your take on the public/private debate? I say everyone quit whining and do something to make your public high school better or send your child to the private school of your choice. By the way, in case there is any question, I bleed purple!- Middle School Basketball
Black 10 The kid's a stud. I've watched him play for South Laurel, the Suns and the Ville and his style of tenaciously attacking the rim is unbelievable to watch. He, along with the kid from Somerset, has the best handle in the game in the state of KY. Hopefully he's a quick healer and we can see him back in action very soon!- Middle School Basketball
Unfortunately, the 6th grade purple team didn't hold their end of the bargain up. However, IHM went on a 20 - 0 run with no timeout called or no changes to the defense. The score at the end of the 1st Quarter was 24 - 6. The final was 36 - 30, IHM over purple. This is what I don't like about middle school basketball. High school coaches complain about AAU being run and gun and only zone. I watch the 6th and 7th grade coaches for purple play run and gun (no offensive sets) and play zone. In the 6th grade game, IHM went to a spread set and the coach, instead of switching from a 2-3 to man, went to a Box and 1???? Where do they get these guys? Why don't high school coaches mandate their middle school coaches to only play man??? Then when players get to high school that haven't played AAU they know how to play defense. I watched our AAU team this entire weekend play man the entire time, except for a total of 2 minutes. One of the unanswered questions of life I guess...- Best NKY JV players?
Vargo seems to be a decent safety. Geiman has some huge potential if he keeps working hard. I also understand he's a very intelligent student with a lot of potential with academics as well. If Geiman continues to grow and his ability increases, he could be one of the best in the area next year!- Middle School Basketball
Who are the good teams in 6th grade in NKY? Camels purple is decent, their guard had a broken wrist until last week. Who else is good out there? I don't know anything about any Boone or Kenton Co. teams. Who are the players to watch? - Middle School Basketball
