Gas Prices JUMP Again

Featured Replies

But if the Fed doesn't cut interest rates, it will only worsen the recession. It is a lose-lose situation, but it is not like the Fed is doing it for no reason.

Eventually they will have to bite the bullet and raise the rates.

I found $3.54 for regular at the Speedway in Bellevue. I thought that was pretty good, considering that in the next town over regular was going for $3.69.

In short, the global economy is tied to the US dollar. Our dollar isn't heavy as of now. Cut rates hurts the weight of our dollar. However, we benefit as far as our country's rising debt with mandated cuts. That is very complex and with everything going on ( War) many factors come into play. Economy, debt and the dollar all are twisted in the mess we have now. Really, there isn't one particular move we can make because of the market crisis that plays into it all. US Energy only could be the only way out of this mess?

It isn't really as bad as a mess as you seem to be saying. US energy is not practical, or else it would have happened by now.

BTW, not to be rude, but I really have trouble understanding what you are trying to say.

Agreed. But IMO it is better to wait until we are back in expansion, because then interest rates will be naturally rising as well.

It makes me sick thinking about gas prices. Makes you kind of scared to...thinking about the financial state of our country. What else are we getting ready to face? What other problems will we have to endure?

First it was supply and demand but that lie was proved to be just that. Now they give us another reason and some of us line up and take that as the truth. The bottom line is they are ripping us off and our so-called leaders are not doing a thing to help us.

Well you may be right about that, guess we should just let them toy with us whenever they want to and jerk us around.

I guess I am not explaining it very well. Kind of hard in a few sentences. If it was both easy to explain and understand I guess it would be simple to do something about it.

I am not saying it is the end of the world, but it does tick me off that they have us were they can do whatever they want to. If it went to 10 bucks a gallon we would still have to buy it.

Bluto for president :thumb:

I'd love to see more refineries built. I'm a semester or two away from finishing school and being a chemical/power plant operator. :thumb:

$3.97 in Kenwood at lunch. Shell when from $3.67 to $3.97 in the 30 minutes it took me to eat a burrito!

G

I just filled up for $3.74.

I was reading through a thread on another forum regarding the 2009 Prius, which is believed to get 55mpg. It was brought up that there are diesel engine cars overseas that run clean and get just as good, if not better mileage, but our government will not allow them over here. They say the hybrid technology is just like every other kind of technology. It's going to continue to evolve, so years down the road, when you need batteries and other electrical parts for the Prius, your going to have a hard time finding it, and you'll be paying a premium for them. Honda has scratched the hybrid technology all together, because of the high cost and lack of sales with the Accord. Next year, they will be introducing a diesel powered Accord.
