April 29, 200818 yr When will it ever stop? Most places in Kentucky have changed to $3.65 a gallon... Gas prices are tied directly to the American dollar. It has VERY LITTLE to do with anything less. As long as the feds keep cutting the interest rate and playing with the value of our dollar, the gas prices will keep going up and up. I heard today the feds are planning another cut so it will shoot up again if this happens.

April 29, 200818 yr Doesn't matter, it is not slowing anyone down. First of the month checks come out this week and we all have to fight that crowd and then most everyone(especially those with lots of kids) will be using W's money to fill up, so as stated before would have to get and stay at 5 dollars a gallon to maybe cause any change and that will happen with a hurricane in the Gulf.

It is a lose-lose situation, but it is not like the Fed is doing it for no reason.
April 29, 200818 yr But if the Fed doesn't cut interest rates, it will only worsen the recession. It is a lose-lose situation, but it is not like the Fed is doing it for no reason. True, and would you think that the biggest reason has to do with our country's debt and how much they can save by lowering the rates. Has a lot to do with many things excluding " recession". It all goes back to the weight of the American dollar. Not supply, not demand, not pipeline troubles, and no, not hurricanes either?
April 29, 200818 yr The gas issue will never die again, IMO....the economy, however will flourish again, I think within the next 2-3 years as well.

I am not sure what exactly you are trying to say here, if you could clarify.
April 29, 200818 yr More Supply, More Supply, More Supply. Allow more drilling. Build more refineries. Ignore the extreme-enviromentalists.
April 29, 200818 yr Better ways to deal with the economy ( housing market) than cutting rates that will in turn lessen the dollar causing us to harm our transportation. Which causes many more problems as we are seeing with higher food, jobs ect. Most people don't realize how the price of oil can affect basically ever thing in our daily lives? This really is much more than paying 4 dollars a gallon for our cars!
April 29, 200818 yr Help ease energy demands. Allow Nuclear Power plants to be built. Any SERIOUS moves to do this would in turn cause the price to fall. Look back when oil was around 40 dollars and everyone thought that was very high. The US spent millions on other options within the US and it dropped instantly to around 6 dollars. However, the US stopped the push. Can we bluff them again? Remember, most of these people hate us for living and would love to see us sink.
April 29, 200818 yr Help ease energy demands. Allow Nuclear Power plants to be built. I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 29, 200818 yr I am not sure what exactly you are trying to say here, if you could clarify. In short, the global economy is tied to the US dollar. Our dollar isn't heavy as of now. Cut rates hurts the weight of our dollar. However, we benefit as far as our country's rising debt with mandated cuts. That is very complex and with everything going on ( War) many factors come into play. Economy, debt and the dollar all are twisted in the mess we have now. Really, there isn't one particular move we can make because of the market crisis that plays into it all. US Energy only could be the only way out of this mess?
April 29, 200818 yr The gas issue will never die again, IMO....the economy, however will flourish again, I think within the next 2-3 years as well. It can't with oil near 200 dollars. Not unless we rethink our economy?
