May 14, 200818 yr The problem is that the Democrats are blaming GW and the republicans are blaming congress for not letting us drill. It seems to me they both need to suck it up and do something to fix it, that is for the American people and not for them. There is not a politician that is not out for their self.
May 14, 200818 yr Honestly I dont think Bush really cares about it all up until now. He has been trying to figure out how to fix his broken war for years, he has bigger fish to fry. He just acknowledged about a month ago that "he hadn't heard about 4.00 gas coming." I don't think he is making a ton of of it but his buddies probably are. He did try to lower gas he want to the Saudi's and asked for more oil, they shut him down. He certianly is going to do all he can to help McCain, I mean the Dems are having a field day with the economy and the war saying how we need change.. and many people are biting on it.

Except drilling would increase supply, which would lower prices. That is backed up my economic theory. What does blaming Bush do? Bring his approval rating down and increase the likelihood that the Dems will get elected.
May 14, 200818 yr :thumb: I've read all of your posts in this thread, and like a lot of what you are selling, at least I think I do. I agree with most of what you've said, but think you missed one reason for the soaring prices, Wall Street. :thumb:

Bring his approval rating down and increase the likelihood that the Dems will get elected. Bush has done enough to bring his approval ratings down. This just helps the cause. People blame the president when things are bad and the president gets the credit when times are good. Both sides play by the same rules when it comes to this.

Bring his approval rating down and increase the likelihood that the Dems will get elected. Supply is a part of it but not the whole thing. People are trading oil commodities to make big money and that is the biggest reason the price is going up. That is what the economist that I know are telling me.
May 15, 200818 yr I would love for someone- especially Sandman, madman, or newarkcatholic- to address this post. IF BUSH WAS MAKING MONEY OFF OF THE HIGH OIL PRICES, THEN WHY WOULD HE SUPPORT INCREASING SUPPLY? INCREASING SUPPLY (AND THEREFORE INCREASING COMPETEITION) WOULD LOWER PRICES AND THEREFORE LOWER PROFITS. This is not, nor has it ever been a S&D issue. Right now, the OPEC nations have to be thinking, "Can you believe this, let it ride, let it ride."
May 15, 200818 yr I'll tell you what drives me crazy. In Mt. Sterling yesterday, the Speedway was $3.95/gallon. The Shell, less than a half mile down the road was $3.75. How can this happen?
May 15, 200818 yr This is not, nor has it ever been a S&D issue. Right now, the OPEC nations have to be thinking, "Can you believe this, let it ride, let it ride." Please explain to a ignoramus like me how this is more of a "Bush's fault" issue then a S&D issue.
May 16, 200818 yr Please explain to a ignoramus like me how this is more of a "Bush's fault" issue then a S&D issue. Well the Saudi's have said on 100 occasions there is plenty of crude...that's why they won't up demand. Supply and demand is a small part of it in reality. It's all manipulation of a commidity.. speculators are getting rich, big oil is getting rich, OPEC is getting rich.

And we know those we put in charge of the common man will never change this because they are in it for the MONEY.
