What are the good schools in the "mountains region?"

 

Belfry, Bell County, Breathitt County and Pikeville have all won state titles. But the "mountain region" term encompasses a huge area.

Per capita, I would go with northern Kentucky ...

Public... Northern Kentucky hands down.

 

Private... Jefferson Co and southern Indiana.

I will take Boyle County/Danville. One town 20,000 people, really good football. Football players per capita, I would go with them.

 

Nope, per capita, Ft. Thomas. One town, 17000 people, and they loose 30 or so very good players to NCC every year, second only to one program (but not for long). Enough said!!!:banana:

First of all, Russell isn't in the mountains. And when you take them out of the picture, the remaining teams you're promoting haven't won a state championship in any of the last three years in the lower classes. And only one mountain team (Belfry, 2007) has reached the finals in that time, a period which covers seven games.

 

On the other hand, northern Kentucky has won three titles in that span ... Newport Catholic has two and Beechwood has one.

Jefferson County may have the best Big Class football... but when you transcend classes it has to be NKY:

Highlands

Beechwood

Newport Central Catholic

Covington Catholic.....

 

Those schools alone have set the bar high. Then throw in the following schools who have enjoyed gridiron success in the distant and/or near past:

Ryle

Boone County

Dixie Heights

Jefferson County has the most talent and success in the state of Kentucky, also if you take an average Jefferson county school, and enter in into eastern Kentucky of nky they would automatically become a powerhouse.

 

List of Jefferson County schools is much larger than anyother regions.

and the only thing keeping schools such as Fern Creek, Ballard etc. from dominating would be there S.O.S

 

even more proof that this area of Kentucky has the most talent, look at local schools outside of Jefferson Co.

Big schools, Jefferson Co. As an overall with all classes included Northern Kentucky hands down.

Ft. Thomas has one of the best football team in the state, no doubt. However, please don't try to act like they draw from 17,000 people. The Northern Kenucky area has a few more people than that.

I agree 100%! Silver Grove has about 495 inhabitants...
