Nope, per capita, Ft. Thomas. One town, 17000 people, and they loose 30 or so very good players to NCC every year, second only to one program (but not for long). Enough said!!!:banana:

 

I will take a Danville/Boyle combo vs. About anyone in the state as far as one county. Since 1999 they have combined for 8 state championships. 11 finals appearances. That's pretty strong. If you combined the two schools they would only be 5A. I'm afraid everyone else would be playing for second

I selected NKY, based on the broad quality of teams and the blockbuster headliners - Highlands, CCH, Beechwood, NCC.

4A - Runner Up (Lone Oak) (I know they got drubbed, but they still made it there)

What is Highland's record vs. Danville and Boyle County since 1999. I would say about 500. Danville and Boyle neither have open enrollment either. The Northern KY area is definately more populated and with open enrollment.

 

The thing about Danville and Boyle is if combined, they would feed off of each other's tallent. Each team would fill the needs of the deficiencies of the other program.

We were 4-3. The losses all came in 2003. Two of the losses were to Boyle (one, at their field by 1 pt.) in Boyle's state championship season. The other was to Danville in their state championship season.

More numbers ='s more talent for the most part. The run of Boyle/ Danville especially late 90's early 2000's is unparralled in this states history.

Im not a Highlands fan, but Highlands has AAA enrollment. The comparison you are trying to make would be like combining Highlands and NewCath, which both are in Campbell Co.

I submit to you Exhibit A: the official drink of the Derby, the mint julip. That my friend is the drink of the Old South. There aren't any dang Yankees that even know what a mint julip is.

 

And I know lots of folks from Louisville, just not many that I like (I'm just kidding. I actually have a lot of friends from Louisville. Great people.)

 

I will share an interesting story about how the Old South views Kentucky. I've had two occasions to attend the annual St. Cecilia Society Ball in Charleston, SC, where as may know, they still call the Civil War the War of Northern Aggression and still believe it. The St. Cecilia Society is a closed membership that traces back to pre Civil War days. Anyway, on my dance card is some blue haired, sweet old lady from a very old Charleston family. We're dancing the Waltz or some other dance that had me trying hard not to step on the lady's toes and she asks me where I was from (she knew that I was not from Charleston and was not a member of the Society). Rather than having to explain where Ft. Thomas is from, I say "Cincinnati". She says "Oh you are a Yankee and your family attacked the South and pillaged our homes and plantations". I take a breath and try to recover by saying I'm actually from Kentucky right across the river from Cincinnati, thinking that would help assuage her feelings towards me. Boy was I wrong. She basically fires back something to the effect of: "Why that's even worse. Kentucky was a southern State that turned its back towards the South when it declared neutrality". Fortunately for me, the dance then ended and I headed for the bar. I still chuckle about getting chewed out by some Charleston lady about 90 years old for something that I had nothing to do with. They haven't forgiven or forgotten, that's for sure.

The city of Ft. Thomas has about 17,000. That's the only figure that matters. But if you're going to claim to be the best, the population argument is kind of a cop out anyway.
