The thing that has changed in the last 15-20 years is the quality of football in Eastern Kentucky. I think that region has now passed Western KY out of last place.

 

Wow - the big city bias. Just because the LCJ only covers Louisville and Northern Kentucky schools doesn't mean that's where the best football is. The best priviate school football - probably, but for plain old small town (public school) football its Western Kentucky.

I would have to look at their addresses. I can name one for certain, but I am doubting that there were not more than five from Bellevue, Newport, Southgate, Silver Grove, and so on..., all of which are not Ft. Thomas. Lets also remember Highland Heights on that list.

How about Northern Kentucky, Highlands won state, Beechwood won state, and NCC came runner-up for state.

Are you serious? I am certainly not a fan of these programs, but how many small town schools in Western Kentucky can compare to Beechwood or Highlands? As far as AAAAAA goes as bad as NKY has done against Louisville in the last ten years, it has been much worse out of the West. How bad did Ryle whip teams from the West a couple of years ago on their way to the whipping that they took against Trinity?

Who can compare with Beechwood - that's easy Mayfield. I doubt if any one school throughout the state can compare with Highlands' successes, but we're talking about the AREA here and if you put together the successes and histories of schools like Paducah Tilghman, Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, Christian County, Madisonville, Owensboro (who by the way beat Boone County at Boone County this year) - that's pretty good football.

The smaller schools like Fort Campbell, Murray, Mayfield, Russellville, Trigg, Caldwell, have all won multiple state championships.

I don't think any other region has the number of historically good public programs.

As far as 6 A goes, well the west doesn't have that many 6A schools, and certainly none with 3,000 boys.

Name one school in the state that has 3,000 boys? The misinformation spewed outside of Louisville about T and X has never been so evident.

I would say that in 1 to 2 A, I like the central Ky region. While they don't have the Beechwood, there are some great schools and traditions...Danville, Bardstown, Harrodsburg (well, used to be), Garrard, Campbellsville, etc.

Just like Greenup, Boyd, Lewis, and Carter counties are not considered East, and they are not considered North. We refer to this area as North-Eastern Kentucky, but many call this area East.

When you say multiple state championships, are you aware that Lloyd, Bellevue, and Ludlow in NKY have all won state? Plus the obvious crew. Obiviously we are talking about a lot fewer schools that the entire Western side of the state. As far as AAAAAA goes, there aren't any schools in the state that have 2000 boys, let alone 3000. That doesn't change the fact that they took a beating the only year that the North and West were aligned in the playoffs. Also, the "smaller schools" like Cov and Highlands out of NKY have both beaten the schools who you are claiming have 3000 boys. Of course,there is no doubt, their student draws can be very simular.
