You have a guard on the defensive line? Glad I asked that question, that could be some valuable information as Somerset has invented a new defensive position just for this game :D

Thats pretty funny..

Isit possible that Belfry could be overlooking Somerset and thinking about the matchup with the other undefeated team Breathitt County? Belfry and Breathitt will be a hell of a game. Last time Breathitt was 12-0 they won that 2002 state championship.

No, they are not overlooking Somerset, the're focused and come Friday they'll show up ready to play. This coaching staff is very good and very experienced and this ain't their first trip to town. If they win Friday, then they will be ready for whomever they play next week. But they know there is no tomorrow unless they win this week, so you can bet their focus right now is on the Briar Jumpers and ontly the Briar Jumpers.

Not with Coach Haywood at the helm, there is a reason Haywood has 304 victories, and why Belfry has played in 4 consecutive State Semi-Finals. I have a feeling the mindset at the mouth of Forest Hills is more of the opposite than looking ahead. Those boys probably expect Somerset to be ehads and shoulders above anyone else they have played this year.

Also, the last time Breathitt was 12-0 they did so playing a much tougher schedule including victories over North Hardin (with Andre Woodson), a pretty solid Harrison county team, and the best Madison Southern team possibly in the school's history. In fact, if truth be known, most people in Pond Creek would be expecting Russell to come down here instead of Breathitt seeing as though they have been our Semi-Final date for the past three years.

The Jumpers have not faired well against teams with winning records this year so I'll go with Belfry.

I wonder how well Somerset would have done in the 2a playoffs.

From the sound of your post, it would seem that maybe Breathitt is overlooking Russell. I mean they do have to beat Russell to even get to next week don't they? Russell is only 11-1 and playing at home--I wouldn't assume a Belfry/Breathitt matchup just yet.

How is the seating at Somerset?

If I am not mistaken they only have one very large set of bleachers, concrete ones at that, ala Belfry's old stadium. Is this correct or does Somerset have visiting seating in place as well?

They looked pretty nice on film but Belfry does bring a crowd!!

There will be plenty of room for the Belfry faithful, seating won't be a problem at all.:dancingpa

Forecast as of now, for Kickoff Friday night at the Briar Patch.

34 degrees

wind 0-2 mph

2% chance of precipitation

Bundle up, come on out and enjoy the game !!!!

It's about time the tempurature cools off on Friday night because when you have to bundle up to go to the game it's usually late in the year and in the thick of the playoffs.

Somerset is a good team. They have to be good to be where they are, at home and playing for the regional Championship.

Belfry on the other hand is rolling and unless something happens and the Pirates give the game away w/ silly mistakes and fumbles I feel that this Belfry team is at least 4 maybe 5 touchdowns better than the Jumpers.

Coach Haywood and the Belfry Pirates are on a mission and tomorrow night they army of red march on and take over Somerset and the Briar Patch just like they were home in CAM Stadium.

Good luck to both team and let's go BIG RED.:thumb:

I have been hoping for this matchup all season long. With two of the most tradition rich programs and two of the best coaches in Eastern Kentucky going against each other it should make for an exciting game, I doubt we'll see any let up from either team in this one. I think if the Jumpers can jump out early and protect the ball they can win, but I don't see Belfry turning the ball over much so if Somerset has trouble with turnovers it could be a long night. Let me just say we Somerset fans have tremendous respect for Belfry and their fans and we look forward to having you at the Briar Patch tomorrow night. That being said....

They are nothing but respect all around, both ways. Personaly I do think we got the better team, but everybody from each fan base will say that lol.

However it wont be easy, neither team is overlooking anybody, and if they are they deserve to loose, but I doubt neither team is.

Maybe playing in the playoffs can become a playoff tradition. Im anxious to see this Belfry defense against Somerset, they are one of the best defenses I have seen in a long time, they make this team special. I was reading a nice little read on their defense today......and its remarkable what they have accomplished.

You are correct Dufrain with this being a great matchup between two great ball team, but taking nothing from Somerset they will not score 42 points on Belfry's Starting D.

I will not happen.
