What a comeback and ending. Beechwood showed why they are champions so often. Congrats to OCath on the hard fought win!

Thanks.  I knew I was missing a year in there and after I posted realized they lost to Mayfield in that semi years ago.

While I still thought Beechwood would win state again this year, because that offense is so good. I did mention two weeks ago on here, that while their defense is good. It is not as good as their offense and there were areas to attack in their defense. Just most teams usually get down so quick against this Beechwood offense, you have to get away from what you need to do. Owensboro Catholic did a great job tonight getting out to a lead, and getting a couple of stops just enough to play with the lead all game. Allowed them to attack that defense without having to try to play catchup. They almost cost themselves by going to conservative at the end. As Beechwood’s offense showed what they can do, if you give them anytime at all.
 

Which what an amazing job by Beechwood not giving up and going down and getting that touchdown with no time left. That was an exciting game!

Anyone have details or video of the touchdown at the end, and then the missed two point conversion? Was it a bad pass, deflected by the defense, a dropped pass? 

Beechwood is a great team.  Congrats on another fine season.

Not many coaches have accomplished that.

Agreed. Was answering a question on if this was the first time Beechwood hadn’t made state in the 2020’s. Was answering how this was second time they came up just short.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. It was the big 5 all season in 2A.  But with Somerset's performance last week vs OCS, should they be ranked ahead of Mayfield in the final poll? 

No one gave OCath any credit and wrote them off. They had an inadvertent whistle where the onside kick was callled back and the two penalty’s in the end zone were not close. This group of seniors have no got any recognition and they showed they’re can compete with Beechwood. It was a great game and that is all that matters.

96-21 in the final poll. ?‍♂️

Big win and congratulations to Owensboro Catholic. Beechwood had a greater season too.
