It's really interesting to me that we have 9+ pages of discussion about this job. Apparently people that follow football seem to feel like it can become a better program than it has been recently.

It's a place that has kids wanting to win. Kids are tired of losing there believe it or not, admin needs to wake up and realize the guy that can run the program already works in the building or if not him go get Perrin from Holy Cross. A lot of people actually care, will be interesting soon.

I don't think it's just that easy to "go" get somebody". It's not like college or the NFL where millions of dollars are thrown around to sway somebody's decision into one that they normally wouldn't make. Or even $100's of thousands like some, or a, school or 2 could in NKY.

They are really going to need to be sold on that pool and probably a new sauna, massage chair and  putting green. And apparently a new weight room.

I just think it's getting harder and harder to find people who have the bandwidth in their lives - or teaching careers - to meet the demands of a position that requires more and more from these men and women every year.

I had a great in-depth discussion with a coaching legend recently who talked about how what was once an X number an hour per week job (head football coach) is now 2x and it's impossible to have a healthy work-life balance ASIDE FROM (drumroll please) dealing with the insane parents that fester like fleas in EVERY program. 

I honestly don't know how head coaches do it and have a great deal of admiration for all of them - and their assistants - for wearing so many hats and getting drastically underpaid (for the most part). 

I hope Scott finds the right individual - whether it be an up and comer or a cagey veteran. The community deserves a winner in a coach and a program.

I do believe they finally have the proper administrators leading the high school.  Having multiple principals led to some instability, which caused multiple families to look to other schools.

The new coaching staff has to get more involved in the youth and middle school programs.  Build relationships with families and coaches.

My understanding is the HC had no relationship with those teams. On the other hand, the asst coaches have a pretty good relationship with both youth and middle school teams. They made a pretty good effort to make themselves active in both organizations. 

The new HC needs to keep that effort up. Taylor Mill has been yearning for all 3 programs to align themselves and support eachother. It seems there are people in the program that care, its just getting the right captain for the ship.

Since it was mentioned in another thread, I’ll mention it here to gauge responses. If Brian Weinrich is out at Campbell County. Would he be a good fit here? Would the stakeholders want him at Scott?

I guess you could also ask, would he want the job?

Given the way HC went down to Newport, I’m wondering if Perrin may consider a return to Scott. Initially I thought he may stay at HC, which he still could no doubt, but there’s always something about returning to your Alma mater and rebuilding it. 
I think he’d bring some much needed energy to the program. They definitely have the facilities to turn it around and he just might be the guy to do it.

I agree with you about Nelson Perrin. Scott doesn't need just another coach that's coming to fill a position. Scott needs some one who has ties to the community that knows the kids and faculty at Woodland and Scott. Don't just make this job out to be just a regular job. This decision is HUGE, the track record proves that this has been the case. When there is know history to the community or school its not just another job. Go after an alum. You can never go wrong with good candidate that meets these requirements. Scott needs someone that can get the kids excited about things, not just some coach who's just wanting to be a head coach. I do believe that Nelson has tons of accolades in sports as well as in the classroom. He was Scott's first-ever Mr. Northern Kentucky. He was a part of the basketball team's state run and played a significate role as well, as I believe he got Scott over the hump with their first District win. He also participated in the school's first state win in the 4x100. I think someone of his caliber is a no-brainer.

And we cannot forget about the most important part of this all is his relationship with the Taylor Mill Eagles. I have seen him come down and coach the youth while coaching at Scott and he also spent time helping out at Woodland. We need to continue strengthening out youth program which is our feeder and bring back the winning culture at all 3 levels.

Casey needs to offer this job to Nelson Perrin, plain and simple. Perrin would be one of the youngest head coaches in recent NKY history, but Scott needs to do something to mix things up and change what they've had, or perhaps more accurately what they've not had going on for them in Taylor Mill.
