No discredit to those young assistants but that to me doesn’t fit their bill. There’s other former players in OC & assistant positions at nearby schools I’m familiar with as well and I don’t think they’ll get it either. Given this “firing/resignation”, they seem adamant to change the culture and whether right or wrong, that generally means an older, experienced coach. 

Not to sound flippant. That "Experienced" Coach way of thinking hasn't worked out lately. Not sure "thinking out of the box" or trying a different path isn't a better choice at this point. Maybe a young hungry dedicated coach might be the way to go. Just my opinion.

What available coaches are out there right now that meet that criteria that really want to buckle down and meet the grind that it's going to take to get this thing on track. 

One plus is the new coach should have unlimited access to a pool year round.

Coach Court would have been a better hire here, IMHO.  

Putting it nicely he's not that good of a "person" from what I've heard about the guy. Not liked by admin and staff, then you add parents on top of that, you have bigger problems. Again, be interesting to see what Coach Fisk does moving forward for the Eagles. 

 

5-15 in 2 years isn't acceptable anywhere. If you track JF's record as a HC it's not good, I'm going off the stats. I truly believe he can call some ball plays, but that job is more than calling plays as we all know. You got to be a better person than a coach. Running the score up on Holmes with no time left essentially is a great example, or stat padding against teams like Dixie, Cooper, Bourbon Co, when you are losing by 30, 40 plus etc. Hope he lands somewhere but it was past time. 

We all know right now that good coaches are getting harder and harder to find.  The demands for the coach, football especially, continue to increase.  The expectations in many places are either unrealistic or unclear.  This seems to be the case with Scott.  What coach in their right mind wants to come in to completely rebuild something that will take at least 5 seasons, when they are going through head coaches faster than anyone in the tristate?  IMO, Scott is a place that nobody that is an established coach in any way will want to touch with a 10 foot pole.  Something is definitely amiss, weather it's culture, bad judgement in hiring, divisive parents/community, lack of work ethic in the kids, poor accountability, or just plain bad luck.  Whatever it is, something needs to change, and whoever gets the job needs to be given the reigns to do it the way they see best fit, and be given the grace of 5 seasons to try to right the ship.

Yeah for sure. If they got a sauna, massage chairs, and a putting green it's going to be hard for an older fella to turn down.

Did rebuilding Scott wear Wooley down that bad? Pretty sure it was his first time being a HBC. The guy knew what winning was supposed to look like. Won multiple championships as a player at Beechwood. Won multiple national championships at Georgetown as a player. Was on staff at Lloyd when they made a semi finals run in 03'. Had a good run at Scott to leave and go coach DB's under his mentor Roy Lucas Jr. at SK???? He was never a "yes man" which could rub people the wrong way but he didn't care what people thought, he believed in what he thought was right. Personally, I couldn't stand him for a long long long time but realized the man guinely wants to better kids lives. And again he knew what winning is suppose to look like. They should see if he would be interested again or help point them in the right direction. I know he still has to have some deep passion for the game. What terms did his relationship with Scott end on?

Actually....I just made myself realize something. Wooley would be the perfect coach for NCC if Lickert is really hanging it up.

Dan left mostly for family reasons. He and his wife had a couple young kids, and if you know Dan he's an all in kind of guy, and made the decision to step away from being a head coach to get more family time. SK is close to where he lives. I'm not sure if he even coached last year after Lucas stepped down and Wynn took over at SK. Knowing how much he loves football, I'm not sure that he'd done coaching, but I also don't think he'd ever go back to Scott. I think that ship sailed for him a long time ago. He certainly didn't leave on bad terms, and I wouldn't be surprised if they called him. But without having any inside information, it's just my opinion that I don't think he'd jump back in at Scott. And I don't think it would be a good idea for Scott to pursue him. I think they need to hit the reset button, and do a hard reboot.

I believe he hung it up because he had young kids he wanted to spend time with. There could’ve been more to his story but I know that was part of it. I agree, would love to see him come back.

Definitely an all in type of guy. Not going to say he was perfect but you definitely get his all. And I was also under the impression that family was the biggest factor in him stepping down. Man, the demands of being a high school head coach..Phew...

I think... (I KNOW for a fact) there is a lot of interest in the NCC position if Lickert is not the coach next year. and No I am not naming names...LOL
