With this job opening as early as it did, I would imagine interviews should be starting soon. Curious as to how many applications Coach Fisk has received? Also if he goes committee or if it will be himself and the principal only? 

I feel very confident this administration knows what they are looking for in a coach. The principal is a former college football player and Defensive Coordinator at Montgomery County. He definitely has a good idea of what the next head coach should look like and the traits needed.

I don't know if they've had any quality applicants but one thing I know for sure, the principal will definitely make the best hire! 

When was he the DC at MoCo?

I’d have to imagine they’d wait until at least after the state finals because it looks bad to do it before and then try and get it hired by the 1st of the year.

They went 3-7. Close to being 5-5. 5-15 in two years, but wins and losses aren't the issue here. 

The issue is they’re looking for a HC almost every two years. You can't expect kids to buy into if the HC will leave after two years. Whoever they hire needs to be somebody that’s in it for the long run.

That's where the above names Perrin and Marsh make the most sense to me. Both young guys that have different, but comparable loyalty to the program. 

Perrin is a legend at Scott and is an up and coming Offensive mind. 

Marsh is in the building, has moved into the area and has been with the kids for 2 years already. 

I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

I can't help but wonder if some of the issues that led to Franklin being asked to leave wouldn't also be prevalent in a regime run by either of these guys. Both are young and without HC experience. Experience isn't always the answer, but there is a reason people value it.

While this may be true, every HC had to have his first job at some point. I think what is most important is who the next head coach surrounds himself on the staff (ex. Ricardo Johnson at Holy Cross). Experience comes in many forms but if you have candidates, young or not, that have a deep connection to the school and the community and are in it for the long haul and WANT to be there, it could be worth hiring that guy.

The foundation of everything they need is there with the facilities but there needs to be a way to keep those "Scott" kids coming to and staying at Scott.

So true. No one has ever become an experienced HC without being a first time HC at some point in time. And surrounding yourself with the right people has to happen whether you're experienced or not. 

Things should pick up here with the finals being this week. Having a Coach by New Years should be in the cards. If I remember right, their previous hires have been made well into February and March. 

Yes you should have an extensive search. But giving the new HC a late start isn't good. Hopefully the process goes a little faster this time.

I imagine they should be starting their offseason weights and conditioning program in January when they return from the holidays break.

Hiring before the State Finals can give the impression that the search wasn’t fully inclusive, because many qualified coaches are still actively coaching and may not have been able to apply or interview yet. Coaches who are preparing for postseason play typically can’t step away from their teams, so waiting ensures you’re considering the full pool of candidates.

I believe it was the years of 2015-2017/18. I don't know exactly the years - but it was somewhere around then. The one thing I do remember, is they had a pretty good season and made it to the regional finals against Madison Southern when they made it to the state finals or semi-finals. He also played at Conner and Morehead State so definitely has a football background. He will definitely lead the committee and make the best decision for that school.

Hearing this job is down to the final 4 and final interviews start this week. I'm guessing they have what they are looking for.
