Berea would’ve been the 3 seed in their district—slated to play Paris in round one. The KHSAA Scoreboard makes it seem that due to Berea’s withdrawal, Frankfort will take the spot of the 3 seed and will play Paris in round 1, thereby giving Raceland a first round bye.

Wondering why KHSAA does not have a fill-in plan to take the playoff spot of the team vacating their position.  I am guessing the #1’s would prefer playing rather than a Bye.

It would depend on the number of injuries and if some more rest would make the team healthier off a bye.

I wish these teams would just be like other teams and pull themselves from district play at the beginning like Ohio Co, Holmes and others have.

One issue is there are not teams to "take the playoff spot."  Where are these teams coming from?

At one time I recall 5 team districts were sending their surplus (voluntary) to short districts.  Like BW and Mayfield’s both have 6 teams in their districts so two are staying home with no where to go.

Those are few and far between.  That also brings up the question of if the team in the original district pull out, why in the world would a team who couldn't qualify for the playoffs want to drive an enormous amount of miles to get destroyed?  Makes no sense to do that at all.  Plus if a team pulls out there has no scouting been completed or preparation for the suddenly new opponent.

Give the team the option to say no.  If the school wants to handle the transportation cost and the opposing team is for it, go down the RPI rankings and take the next best available that says they want to play.  Some of the seniors on the teams that missed the playoffs might like one more week of football.
