Very proud of Spencer Clukey out of Cov Cath.  I’ve never seen a boy be so diligent about his diet starting back as early as 7th grade.  I see him training hard here at Wiefit daily with his dad, and now I get to share the fruits of his labor!  He was offered to play football at the University of Kentucky.   Can’t wait to see what other offers he gets and looking forward to following his journey!  Great kid!

Carrie Clukey
Thank you, Brian! You have been vitally important to him! Offering tremendous guidance and support with his nutrition and strength training as well as overall encouragement! We appreciate you!

The Frederick Douglas kid is a Soph and DL/OL and very sizable and the South Carolina kid is said to be a 4 star kicker….

I think if Cash was 6’ or 6’1 he’s on a G5 trajectory…I think he’s probably a little small for that level. He’s still an awesome player and a future all state level safety imo.

His best position for higher level football would be WR IMO. He is so elusive and his size would not be as much of an issue. The question there would be does his speed to play at that level.

what I am hearing and seeing on this is that UKato91 is 100% correct and He has been moved to WR as He has shot up in height and they want to get the ball in space to Him.
I think the plan is to feature Geiser out of the backfield as RB1 with Andrew Bessler getting some carries(kid runs with an attitude attacking would-be tacklers before they can attack Him).

And as of now I think they like Harney better at QB as it gives them more options and more dynamic folks touching the ball.

I know a ton of folks are down on Harney’s arm strength compared to the cannon Queen has, but I am absolutely convinced it is not as big of a drop off as folks think it is.  The bigger issue for me is Harney looks to be on His way to a D1 level safety and He will be flat out scary coming downhill this year on D and I am not sure you want your starting QB doing that.  Harney may be more valuable staying at safety and getting the ball in space on offense as a RB or a slot WR and handing the offense over to a potential 3 year starter in Queen.

There are a lot more guys in the know on here then me and I would love to see this thread get directed more for a bit on some chatter on our QB situation as it seems like we have some legit options and options is good problem to have.

We are just weeks away from practice starting and lighting this candle.

GO Colonels.

I thought Queen went across the river?

He did.  He spent half of His Freshman year buried on the Elder Freshman Teams depth chart and was back at Cov Cath either right before or right after Christmas break.

That's surprising they had a Quarterback of his stature on the freshman team, or were other factors in play? At one point in time he was regarded as one of the top 8th quarterbacks in the country.

He is still widely lauded as He has been to Nick Saban’s Camp twice and a Nike camp and has an absolute cannon of an arm.  Issue is His mobility as CCH likes to use their QB as another RB at times.  Something to note that early on in His career Pitzer and had the same criticism about mobility and He became nothing short of an outstanding all around QB, Athlete, and Leader….the QB competition and offense is going to be interesting to watch going forward as they are nothing short of loaded with explosiveness with so many options/weapons, but have some big issues up front to sort out in order to get this train rollin’.

Yeah I follow him closely, big OSU fan and his pops went there. Have followed him since his CYF days, also already has that Kentucky offer. And is camping at Michigan and Penn State this week, kid is a stud. I think they need to hand the keys over now, it'll be better for the team over the next couple years.

Is he ready for Varsity play having only played Frosh ball?

I find it hard to believe, if he's top in the country, Elder and the GCL would have missed that.

Is the UK offer real?

I've seen the camps he attends, plenty of kids are traveling around, but that doesn't translate to actual play in games.  Reminds me of "showcase baseball players", they can showcase well, get offers, have the metrics and fizzle out in games.

I got to think its Harney's spot to lose as he's shown out on a Varsity field before, especially in a tough spot.

Great "problem" to have though!

I know the UK offer is real and the issue at Elder was simply their QB Room from Freshmen up through Varsity is straight loaded….they have 3-4 legit starting studs in that program right now.

And the Kid just wanted to come back and be here is really the simple thing of it all.  It’s a special place CCH and grass is not always greener on the other side.

That all being said, He is a stud when a cannon and an advanced big bodied QB Frame, bit as of now I am told He is a straight pocket passer and the offense does not specifically use only that skill set.  I think this becomes more about what alignment can we get into that consistently maximizes our most dynamic players touching the ball at once.  And having Harney on the field handling the rock with Geiser, Brooks, Link, Bessler, Clukey, Kruer all out there spreads every defense out in a nightmare scenario.

I think at this point is most likely Harney as the options with Him on the fields are just far too great.

when I was a CCH we had a QB as a Junior named David Wilson who almost mirrors Harney, except maybe a tick bigger, and His Senior year He transitioned to starting RB(and was dominant as was the 1990 team) to make way for Adam McCormack to take over and I can see that same situation playing out next year and working out to a T, especially if Boyle County can graduate a few folks.

I can say with certainty that there is one female in NKY that would NOT be okay with "that same situation playing out next year".

Meaning if Harney is not the starting QB He is gone from CCH?

I can only offer an educated opinion knowing the family a little, and that is it wouldn't shock me if they'd move him if he didn't have a clear path to being QB1.  I like him as a kid, and love how he plays both Football and Basketball, so I hope he stays and plays wherever the coaches ask him to play.

Well I have no knowledge other than the fact I think it’s pretty clear Cash is building something special at CCH and is on a path to a ton of success and I hope He stays as well.

I'm very familiar with that 1990 team and that is actually a great comparison.  While I think Cash has similar athleticism to Dave Wilson, I think Cash is a better QB than Dave was, but Dave was significantly more physical as he played a hard-hitting safety at Miami of OH.    I haven't seen Emmet play yet but have heard plenty about him and understand his arm strength is very good and accuracy is very good, but lacks "touch" and mobility.  That will come with more experience which seems eerily similar to Adam McCormack.

If I were to call a starter now it would have to be Cash.   But would not be surprised to see Emmet either because starting Cash at QB leaves a big hole in the defense.  I think who steps up to fill his spot on defense will play a big factor on the QB position.  "Optional" practice started this morning, so I suspect more will be known over the next several days until dead period.
