Tate Kruer is listed by the Cincinnati Enquirer as one of the Top 10 linebackers in Greater Cincinnati going into the 2024 football season. Kruer led Cov Cath's defense in tackles in solo tackles as a sophomore in 2022 with 62 solo tackles (plus 10 assisted tackles) and led the defense again in 2023 as a junior with 91 solo tackles (plus 21 assisted tackles).

I saw on Hudl that Cov Cath is scrimmaging at St. Henry on Friday at 9:30am. I knew there was going to be a freshman and JV scrimmage on Friday, but I hadn't heard anything regarding varsity. I'm guessing that it's only showing up on Cov Cath's varsity Hudl account since JV is involved. St. Henry is only fielding freshman and JV teams this year and the school is only permitting grades 9 through 11 to participate in football this year.

Can anyone confirm that the scrimmage is freshman and JV only?

I can confirm the varsity is not participating in the scrimmage, though they are strongly encouraged to be there in street clothes.  

On a less official note, I am told that there are 4 seniors on St Henry's team.  If that is the case, I'm glad they opened it up to all grades.

I got a brief text about it:

"Teams swapped 10 plays each way. Cru played what looked like a full scrimmage of JV. CCH switched between JV squad and Fresh squad against Cru's JV. CCH played like 5 different QB's between JV and Fresh, and team scored a whole bunch. St. Henry had trouble moving the ball and scored 1. CCH had 2TD's on turnovers."

This adds a little clarity to the text I got.   The only response I got was, "It wasn't pretty" and then radio silence.  I'm thinking what the heck does that mean.   

Any word on how the QB battle is turning out?? Less than 2 weeks to go….

He was one of the guys I was in awe of when my dad started taking me to CovCath games.  Both Schultes.
