Seems like he's getting things in place to walk away.

I think there is a better that 50/50 chance that we just watched him coach his last game at Alabama. 

It's possible.  If so, what a career.  Best to ever do it, in my opinion. 

Who can blame him.  If he stays, it is for love of the game so I hope he stays.

Without knowing any of what you stated above, I almost asked the exact same question.  The college game has changed A LOT over the last few years.  I'm not sure what next years team looks like, but the last few haven't been as good as what he usually has.

I hope not. My nephew is an assistant offensive line coach at Bama. I'd like to see him stay one more year. 

Portal, NIL, playoffs.  This not the world Mr. Saban was successful in.  And it’s a different world.  
 

I am not say old dogs can not learn the new tricks.  But do you want to?

 

It seems like a good time to do a Jimmy Johnson and enjoy some life.

I have the feeling he gives it one more year, especially with an expanded playoff.  After that, all bets are off.

Very possible, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

Unquestionably, not a better and more accomplished football coach at the college level other than Nick Saban. 

I mean, I know we are trying to act like Saban is not made for today's NIL/transfer portal game, but the Tide this year are probably the third or fourth best team in the country, last year finished 5th (were probably the third or fourth best team in all honesty), and season before lost in the title game. In 2020 they won the title. Unless you are UGA, who has been better?

If he's smart he will retire.  I'd rather coach high school than college right now.  No way I'd kiss the backsides of 18 year olds and make promises to them.  It's a different world from when he started.  

Off topic slightly, did anyone else see all the guys on the Alabama sideline in jerseys and pants?  Was there a limit in how many guys could be active?  Was wondering who those guys were.  

I actually thought this year was one of his best coaching jobs ever. After the Texas game I believe most people thought the Tide were destined for at least four losses. They easily could be playing for a national title as the favorite next Monday.

Actually if you ever listen to Deion, he talks about Saban being the GOAT and that he calls him regularly for advice.

I do not think Saban is done. 

Whenever he is, he's the best to ever do it, and it's not remotely close.
