Why do they have to suck up to the SEC. ACC had a 5-2 edge on the committee this year.

Liberty is 13-0, where is everyone's concern for them?

Liberty isn't in a power 5 conference and that is what the CFP was set up to cater to.

Mentioned earlier, but FSU got Kenyon Martined and it genuinely sucks for them, but I get it. This is a “what happened last” business, and FSU had a two week audition against bottom half defenses to show their offensive play wouldn’t drop off too much. But it had and that was all the excuse the committee needed. We can debate resumes, SEC biases, deserving/best etc., but it is a simple as that. Terrible.

Because the SEC consistently dominates the National Championship.  The conference has earned getting sucked up to.  I don't think it's always been the best conference, but in the last several years, they regularly have the best team.

I personally find it comparable to Kentucky High School football.  People often debate who the best team in Kentucky is on a yearly basis.  Almost always, it's a 6A Louisville school.  Championships speak volumes.  I'm not a KHSFB expert by any stretch, but I can tell you with confidence that the best Louisville has to offer in 6A will very likely win the whole thing.

I totally understand the frustration.  But College Football has always had a flawed championship system.  Always.  While I don't think Florida State is a Top 4 team, it's ridiculous that they go undefeated and are left out.  It's happened other times too, including an undefeated Auburn being left out one season. 

At least next season the debate is was #13 hosed out of their shot.

It is actually the #12 team because the first 11 are in the #12 goes to the highest non power 5 team like this year's Oklahoma was #12 but they would've been the first team out and #23 Liberty would be the 12th team in.

At that point, would Notre Dame then claim to be the highest ranked non Power 5 team?  Just to get a foot back in the door?

Here’s something else to think about…

Jordan Travis was out last week when the CFP committee ranked FSU #4, was he not? 

So then how after winning their conference championship game and finishing 13-0 do they drop a spot, with the same team that they were ranked #4 with?

No they are just an independent this was for the highest ranked team from a conference not in a power 5 conference.

This year's standings with next year's conference alignments. 12 of top 13 are either B1G or SEC.

 

Florida State belonged in the playoff, no more or no less. Regardless of who likes it or not, the ACC is a power conference. Florida State finished undefeated as the conference’s champion unquestionably. This should have been the case if it would have been Louisville, Clemson, NC State, Miami, or anyone else in the conference. This was a smack in the face to Florida State and the ACC.

And back to this point, there is precedence for this. In 2014 tOSU loses their starting QB going into their conference championship game against the #13 ranked Badgers. They rolled Wisconsin 59-0 not looking like they'd missed a beat.

I wonder which conference has the most bowl eligible teams?

Using the KHSAA comparison... 

Trinity is usually the cream of the crop in 6A and statewide. If we applied the same logic to high school that we do for college, that would mean we always think 6A is the best class because Trinity and Male dominate. 

How many years do we really think that after Trinity and Male, the next several "best" teams are all in 6A? Not often. 

Having the best team, or even the best two teams doesn't make a league the best.
