Totally agree with you on this.  Everything that has happened to this point is in the past.  All the what ifs don't matter.  It comes down to this game with 2 really good teams.  I'm going with Mayfield to earn their 13th State Title with a score of 38-21.  I think the last 2 weeks have really fine tuned the cards and have them battle tested and ready.  I'm predicting a big game by JuJu.  175yds 3 TDs ish.

Xavier Biggers will be the 3rd generation of Biggers to play for a state championship for Mayfield. His grandfather was on Mayfields first 2 state championship teams in 1977 and 1978 with 78 team going 13-0 undefeated and considered by most in Mayfield as the best team in Mayfields history and ranked number 1 that year by Litenhouse. Father played in state championship game with the team going into state championship game 14-0 but got handled pretty good by Middleboro I believe in 2000?. HOPEFULLY the state championship will only skip over 1 generation and he will help Mayfield get back on top after several  missed opportunities....this is a pretty cool feat and awesome that 3 generations will be playing in state championship game for Mayfield...good luck Cards.

No shame in that Middlesboro loss in 1998, the Jackets had an excellent football team, one of the best ever 1A teams. I went back and looked at the final score:

That game by Middlesboro was one of the best all-around performances I've ever seen in a state championship game. They were excellent.

They were gchs.  1998 was when I first started fooling around with the idea of BGP and I use to travel to a lot of games.  I went to the game the week before where Middlesboro beat Beechwood 29-13 in the semi-finals and in my opinion that really strong Beechwood team [the Tigers beat Boyle County, Ryle, CovCath, and Ironton (OH)] was lucky to keep it close.  Coach Roark and Middlesboro had a special 1A football team, clearly one of the best ever from my viewpoint.  Look at this run in the playoffs:

I can't quite remember the specifics, but I think the Jackets only scored two touchdowns.  Their kicker was hitting 40+ yard field goals with ease.  And they didn't have to go crazy on offense, because they shut Mayfield down completely.  The Cards scored one garage time TD.  That was it.

It was heavy OC for sure. I don't think they talked about Mayfield at all or very little.

I remember they stacked the box on us. We couldn't move the ball at all. We didn't adjust at all in the first half and it was nearly over at half time.

The MLB for the jackets was one man wrecking crew in that game. I have never seen someone dominate a game like he did! I watched highlights of the Beechwood Middelsboro game the other night. He dominated that game as well.  

Mayfield actually moved the ball pretty well between the 20's in that game, but, were shut down when they got near the red zone. Their OL knocked Mayfield's DL off the ball all day and their RBs hit the holes as fast as anyone I've ever seen. Had us on our heels all day.

I think Mayfield is a different level of physical! They have seen this game many times! I’m taking Mayfield on experience!
