  1. That district schedule is gonna make it hard for the cards to crack the top 3 in RPI. Unless some of the other big ones stumble out of the gate with some losses or are upset at some point during the season. 6 team districts hurt when they aren’t competitive.
  2. I agree with you on the skill positions being very good. If I had to choose this team's biggest weakness it would be the offensive line. It hasn't been tested since the Paducah game. I think LCA figured out last year that in order to beat Mayfield you have to win in the trenches. I think if Robbins gets time to make a few plays and England gets a few holes then this will be a tight game until the end. Defensively Mayfield is on the smaller side in the trenches, but they do utilize their athleticism and rally to the ball. I don't think LCA has the "homerun" hitting ability this year that they've had in the past. If Mayfield can get up a couple of touchdowns and get them out of their run game they can pull it out. Mayfield wins 38-31.
  3. Central Hardin beats McCracken County is a possibility.
  4. The ONLY reason Murray ever plays Mayfield is when they HAVE to due to being in the same class and district. When they are not, they don’t play. You have to go back several years to get the data, but that has traditionally been the case. A little mutual traditionally also.
  5. Sounds like the backup came in and hit a few home runs and is fast. I don’t think it will play a factor. They have a dynamic offense that doesn’t rely heavily on one player. This will be a high scoring game similar to the championship game last year. It will come down to turnovers, mistakes, and penalties.
  6. I must say. I believe O Cath schedulers have done a nice job with their scheduling kinda playing the RPI system too. They do play some 6A and 5A schools, but not very competitive ones. But those higher classes get you more points in the RPI regardless of their win percentage although that does help too. It doesn’t really matter who had the toughest schedule and all that. You can’t win if you’re not in the dance, and O Cath has done a good job of getting there. Now it’s anyone’s ballgame. I will take Beechwood though. They’ve been there and done it. The stage isn’t too big for them.
  7. That was the exact word I used to someone after the Mayfield game last night. The last 2 years when LCA has come over to War Memorial they have seemed to be a “finesse” type of offense with Boley running it. I thought LCA came in with a different mindset and attitude this year. They were a smack you in the mouth type team this is what we are doing try and stop it(we couldn’t). I think the Howard kid runs that offense precisely. I haven’t seen enough of Beechwood to know for certain, but after seeing LCA in person I’m picking LCA to keep playing smashmouth playoff football and come away victorious. 42-31.
  8. I literally see no Mayfield fan on here complaining about a thing. Everything I see says that LCA played a heck of a game and beat us. You are right though time to move on.
  9. I actually had Murray in mind when I said some schools and fan bases would love to have those kind of expectations. ?
  10. I’m really not even sure what you’re trying to say here. Mayfield has a chance and expectations to make it to championship game every year. We have ups and downs as far as classes and talent goes but that doesn’t change the expectations. You can count on one hand how many times Mayfield has been put out before the semis in the last 20 years. There are schools and fan bases that would kill to have that kind of expectation and success. You will have to excuse us for being “ok” with how things are going. As far as the qb situation goes. You can’t take a small snippet in a lopsided game against the opposing jv team and say he should be starting. It was a qb battle at the beginning of the year and #11 won. He gave us the best opportunity to win.
  11. LCA came to play. The seniors on their team know what the last 2 seasons have felt like on that long ride home. They made sure that wasn’t going to happen again. The QB runs that offense with precision. His ball handling and turning his back to the defense was impressive.
  12. LCA came to play. Mayfield has not so far. Maybe there will be some halftime magic. Turnovers killing the Cards. You can’t do that against a good team and pull it out.
