Final what a 6-game run for UConn. They have now won their 5 title in only 23 years and have now tied "blue bloods" Duke and Indiana who have 5 titles as well. They have won more titles in that time than any other program. A question for guys on here will Connecticut now be considered a "blue blood" with the likes of UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, and Indiana?

Yes, and they will be someone to reckon with in the future.

SD State made a nice push into the second half, but UConn simply wasn’t being denied. No team can go on the long droughts with no points like SD State did with how good UConn has been playing. Then again, UConn’s defense had a lot to do with that. Not just because of winning the championship just now, but I believe UConn is back as one of the main forces, if not the main force currently in college basketball under Dan Hurley. 
 

Even though UConn was the toughest and most impressive throughout the tournament, I truly believe that Cinderella is no longer Cinderella for the most part moving forward. The transfer portal and more has changed it as it was known previously and it’s going to remain in my opinion.

Just a dominant run by the Huskies. How were they a 4 seed? They rebounded so well throughout the entirety of the tournament. Dominated inside, got hot from the perimeter. 

 

And they proved that defense wins championships.

They finished 4th in the Big East and didn't even make the conference championship game.

With that said, after watching the Big East all year I am not the least bit surprised a Big East team won it all.

I agree, the Big East has been very strong. Isn’t it ironic with how so many thought that the Big East was done when the major changes happened longer ago with all teams that left for the ACC? They have clearly proven many doubters wrong. Doesn’t tonight make three national championships to the Big East since all of the changes?

Uh, yeah..... especially since they are back in the Big East.

If championships are the ultimate measuring stick, how could UConn not be considered a blue blood? Especially seeing as they have more titles than the "traditional" powers in the last 20 years.

One of my least favorite things about March Madness is them bringing in NBA analysts that clearly watch very little College Basketball. And I love all the Inside the NBA guys.

Barkley and the crew watch bits and pieces of 67 college basketball games a year. The first game being that third Thursday of each March. It hurts me to watch and listen to.

UConn has equaled Duke for the most titles during the 64+ team era of the NCAA tournament.  Doesn't get much more blue blood than that IMO.

They had a stretch during conference play where they lost 6 of 8, including 2 to Xavier.  But in looking at the team, they were really well constructed.  It was just a matter of Hurley getting them all to buy in.

SDSU was scrappy enough to cut it to 5 in the 2nd half and then quickly forgot what got them there causing the deficit to jump back over 10.

I believe its the latter.  The second half comeback was fueled mainly by UConn getting sloppy or rushing shots. 

There were comments before the game, maybe Kellogg,  that SDSU was the kind of team that gave UConn trouble when they lost this season.
