Does anyone know if we will be allowed to tailgate, like the old Louisville days?  Last couple of years have been so Covid restricted that we could not get into the parking lot until an hour before the game.  Would love to get in early with my world class chili.

I think Beechwood wins this year.  It will be close and a defensive battle, but the Tigers pull it out.

This Mayfield team is not last years team so Beechwood will need to come out and play its best game of the year. Defense will need to continue to do what it has all year and stifle the run game and get pressure on the opposing QB. I fully expect this to be a slugfest with lots of hard hitting and limited points being scored as both defenses are really good. I am biased when it comes to Beechwood of course but I fully expect this team to bring home the hardware and that’s saying something when you lose a Mr. Football Candidate in the 8th game of the year and this team has done nothing but come together and play at the same level as we would expect with Mitchell Berger still on the field.

This game doesn’t remind me of that game at all. Mayfield is never an underdog everyone should know that by now. The Cards are undefeated. The Tigers aren’t so if anyone is the underdog it’s the Tigers!

In a CLOSE game.  I think Beechwood wins, but I also think both teams will be in this game through the 4th quarter.  One of those kinds of games you love to win, but hate to watch…. Where there’s just a knot in your stomach the whole time.  I needed a few tall boys  after last years state game just to chill myself out.  I have to work this year, so I won’t get to go.  I’m sure my liver will be happier for it.

For Mayfield, #24 Starks is the one they always talk about.  But 1, 2, & 4 are offensive playmakers.  18 & 15 are chipping in too in the pass game.  Someone is always stepping up and making enough plays to win.  Defense has been good all year.  Will have to be really good one more time.

I did not see this team making the title game at the beginning of the season.  I think they are underrated bigtime.   To me, they don't touch the 19, 18, 17 Mayfield teams, and all those squads lost the title game (which speaks to how good the teams were that beat them).  But they keep proving me wrong.  Hope they do it again.

Anybody who pays attention to KY high school football knows how good Beechwood is.  Two time defending champ.  What more is there to say?

Not looking to start a separate debate but genuinely curious about this: I noticed both QB and RB for Mayfield took extra Covid year. I know people made a big deal out of “Super Seniors” a few years ago but how many players on both of these teams took the extra year?

I think it would be a story book ending for Mayfield to walk away with the championship this year.  However, I think this Beechwood team is just too powerful.  In an action packed weekend, I believe this will be the marquee game.  I'll take Beechwood in this one by a TD or two.  Regardless of the outcome, both teams have had a tremendous year and represent why so many love HS football in Kentucky.

I don't believe I've ever picked against Mayfield in a state title game, but I had Beechwood winning 2A in the preseason and I haven't seen any reason to think they have fallen off enough to not secure the victory. Most likely a good game, I just think Beechwood wins it. 

So far, not one person has publicly picked Mayfield in this contest. Hmmm.
