For sure. In 87 and 88 they had the running back duo of Hackney and Duramus, then in 89, they had Steve Bailey who was a MAN playing against boys. I was on the field against him in 89. He was taller, bigger, and faster than everyone.

From someone who was there: 1988 Pikeville Panthers 1991 Beechwood Tigers I would hold up those two teams as two of the best small school teams. That was back when Beechwood was Class A (along with Pikeville). I'm sure other folks from around the state can chime in, but my experience skews toward NKY. The reason I know about Pikeville, is b/c I was standing on the sidelines against them that year. Truly a team full of studs.

If not pay, they at least split half the gate. The gate of a 10,000 person stadium can be pretty sweet. Half the Westside shows up to the game so you know… not a bad deal for a visiting team. Hell, visiting teams may make more on this away game than playing at home.

Probably the missed FG earlier was looming large on that call.

I guess I couldn't tell from the feed, but didn't Beechwood kick a field goal at the end? I thought they had 38, but my feed was a little grainy.

Yeah, watching this it looked like LCA rolled in a little cocky or something and expected Mayfield to roll over. Mayfield D looked pretty strong 2 pick 6s.

Without the pick in the end zone this one gets REALLY close. Still hopeful, go Panthers!

Yeah, as far as I know that has been the case, plus it’s the same for both teams so not a huge controversy or anything. I’m a Beechwood fan, so I love the win, but I do feel bad for that poor kicker that missed the XP. Terrible way to lose an epic game.

To your point on punt returns, Beechwood has fumbled SEVERAL. It truly is one of the few weaknesses in their game that I hope coach Rash has addressed. It didn’t affect games bc they were up, but in a tight game like what I expect tomorrow, that could be the difference.

Beechwood - 21 Mayfield - 10 In a CLOSE game. I think Beechwood wins, but I also think both teams will be in this game through the 4th quarter. One of those kinds of games you love to win, but hate to watch…. Where there’s just a knot in your stomach the whole time. I needed a few tall boys after last years state game just to chill myself out. I have to work this year, so I won’t get to go. I’m sure my liver will be happier for it.

Truly embarrassing for the players but even more for the coaches. That wasn’t a playful fight or a tussle. That was a freaking brawl. People around me were looking around saying is there coach going to stop this??? It went on for that long Second point to that, where we’re the refs? Delay of game at minimum, expulsion for the players SHOULD have happen. A personal foul is a personal foul no matter which team your committing it against. Luckily nobody was hurt.

Weirdest thing I’ve see at a game…. two Carroll Co players just got into a huge fist fight, on the field, during the game. It went on for a good :45 seconds before the coach got on the field. ? that was wild man. 55-7 :55 Q3
