So a board policy is going to be changed for one player(notice I didn't say student) coming from the Miami area for a semester? Usually it takes a little while to change a policy. This guy must be something. This is going to be interesting.

I highly doubt Highlands or any school for that matter would change a graduation policy to accommodate a student/athlete or whatever you want to call them. I don’t see how anyone out there is above a schools standards that have been set a long time ago. Sure, if there are several students year after year approaching the school asking for this, then yeah, the school board can look at their policy and see if they want to amend it. I’m glad policy or standards are not being changed for any “one” person. Sadly, there in lies the issue, “one”…..bigger than the program, school or community. Just my opinion. 

I can promise you with 100% certainty that Fort Thomas Schools will not change any academic policy for athletic reasons.  If this becomes something relevant in the future I am sure the policy could be reviewed, however, no way this will change this year.

Luke Slusher graduated in December last year and enrolled early at WKU. He took the classes necessary to get the credits to graduate early. 
 

I’m assuming the Robinson kid was on track to graduate early at his school in Miami, which would mean he would only have to take certain classes at whatever school he went to. It’s actually pretty simple to understand. 
 

However, to imply that “the Fort Mitchell School” is changing rules just for this one kid is absolutely laughable but, not above what the fans of the school in Fort Thomas have become. You guys need new hobbies. 

I don't see the point in not having the rule in place. Why make a kid stay??

Hold up! Not all fans of the school in Fort Thomas are making those remarks about Beechwood. I applaud Beechwood for being a school that has accommodated to the 21st Century…..

I am glad Beechwood is allowing him to graduate early. Many schools around Kentucky have to get over themselves and get with the times. The student athletes are the ones being hurt by this rule. While Highlands may have a “path” to graduate early they sure don’t make it easy or accommodating to do so. If there are two athletes even on a colleges board and they can get one 6 months before the other, who do you think they are going to take? Opportunities are missed due to this. Early graduation is becoming the norm for many athletes that have college aspirations. Kentucky as a whole is very far behind in this aspect.

Exactly, however when you start "assuming" you know what happens.... There was nothing implied, The School in Ft Mitchell and the one in Ft Thomas are on different Schedules, check out the facts before "assuming" anything. End of Story. I hope wherever he lands, he graduates.

Yes, they are indeed on different schedules. One is ranked higher, academically, than the other, annually.

Both are extremely high achieving academic districts that rank annually in the top 5 in the state. I would be proud for my kids to attend either.

Maybe we should compare school lunch menus to see which is better. (Eye roll emoji)

Someone told me you get six chicken nuggets at Beechwood and only five at Highlands.

Very good post. But do you think Early Graduation is the only reason why he is not in Ft Thomas right now? Yes its part of it. Or actually the only thing that can be talked about publicly right now and the main roadblock. Some things are able to be done in other states in HS Athletics where in Ky it is not. You probably wouldn’t have to dig very far to figure out what I’m talking about. But my thoughts are in about 6 months, Beechwood is going to wish they stayed away from this. Its not just early graduation. Don’t be that Naïve. I still love your post. But not all Highlands supporters like me think their program is a better fit than Beechwood right now. Does it have the Chance to be? Absolutely. Highlands wants to Win as much as the next program right now. best to Luck to Beechwood.
