RPI aside, Spencer is more in the 7 to 15 range in 4A and frankly if you are not top five in a class can you even claim you are competitive?

Spencer County might have been top 5 in RPI this season, but I don't believe they were among the five best teams in the class at the end of the year. Bottom line, a move to 4A for Bardstown would seem like borrowing trouble, especially since 3A appears to be much more winnable during the next cycle.

I agree with you if your not top five you can't claim to be competitive.

With the next cycle I believe Bardstown is one of many schools looking around saying no matter what the road is going to be tougher, they could be in one of the toughest districts in the State if the get placed with CAL and Central. If that was to happen I feel bad for their sister district

I agree, but I don’t see them doing that.  I believe Central will just take the place of Western Hills and the rest of the current district stays the same.  Bardstown’s district would look different though in my opinion.

In a weird way, that district would be very exciting and under the new playoff rules 2 teams in it could still go to the finals.  Still, don't want it!

Nothing on you so no apology needed. Geography guarantees that district won't happen and the guy who published that should have known better.

So, the KHSAA takes the top 32 and puts them in 6A, right?  On the KHSAA enrollment chart, it lists Dixie Heights as the 32nd biggest school, but they are in 5A?

That is very cool. Nice work!

I love how you can click on it and see each class by itself. Looking at 2A, what to do out west is going to be a real challenge. Fort Campbell and Todd County Central are in no man's land by themselves in 2A.

Click on other classes and you can see the same issue. There are no easy answers in setting up the districts for each class. But the caveat here is these maps are going to change and in some cases it is because of this geographic issue for district opponents.

From the table presented, it looks like Christian County (see far right column in yellow) is accounted for the 32nd slot for 6A. New school consolidation with Hopkinsville adds another ~500 when it opens fall of 2024 - it's going to be top five enrollment in the state when mid cycle petitions/adjustments roll around for 2025-26. Getting acclimated I guess.

In the before times, only four NKY schools west of the Licking River were playing football - Holmes, Dixie Heights, Ludlow, and Lloyd Memorial.

I was told once that Beechwood's original field was located between Highland Avenue and Silver Avenue...essentially behind the current Ft. Mitchell City Building. I can confirm from growing up a street over on Idaho Avenue that the backyards of the houses in that location do naturally form a sort of a natural bowl.

If it was actually there, it most certainly wouldn't have drained well either....which could explain for the nickname "The Swamp."
