I don't want to focus on that either VoR but when I was flipping stations Tirico was on and I am big fan.  Plus, I think I could fall to sleep (compliment) to Mike Tirico reading me bedtime stories, his voice is very pleasing.

I agree on Tirico.  I will try to pull up that interview you're talking about being about. However I will say Tirico irritated the snot out of me out of me on that touchdown pass to Boyd in the Bengals game where the whistle blew a split second before he caught the ball.  He was totally focused on whether it should have counted or not and said nothing about the whistle having zero impact on the play.

When Sha'Carri's case first surfaced I was sick of hearing about it. You tested positive for something you knew was on a list, period. I don't care if the substance was chocolate milk, if it's on a li

  • I will watch a little bit because after all it is the Olympics but my interest is only a fraction of what it was years ago.

I agree on the whistle/TD.  I like the balance Tirico has but sometimes he can be just a bit scathing and I think this is one of those cases.  But again, I love Tirico.

May watch some of the sledding events, downhill skiing, speed skating and ski jumps. That’s about it.
I’ve never been a fan of figure skating. Any sport that needs judges to determine winners are usually controversial.
“Now that slight bobble may cost her a tenth of a point.” ?
Give me speed skaters lined up racing against the clock and you’ll get a true winner every time.

Absolutely zero interest.

Same here.

I watched a little mixed team short track speed skating, it was pretty exciting.  I believe China won the gold and Italy the silver on a near photo finish.

I am usually a really big Olympics guy, but I'm just having a hard time getting into it this time.  Not getting to watch a lot of it live for some reason makes it harder for me to get into it.  Plus I think I enjoy the Summer games quite a bit more.

Not being live for a lot of it hurts.  But also the fact that a majority of these sports now get a lot of coverage year round and not just every 4 years.    With the Summer games, Track and field, cycling, water polo and swimming kind of rule.   You don't see those on TV all the time, so every four years its fun.

With the winter games, every major figure skating event is on one of the networks.   ESPN crams X-games down your throat, so you don't have to wait 4 years to watch snowboarding.

Here's a head scratcher...

Eileen Gu, 18 year old life-long US citizen, born in California to two US citizens, her father, born and raised in America, and her mother, born and raised in China and a naturalized US citizen. She's had extended visits to China on 4 occasions prior to the 2022 Olympics but resides in California. She just won a gold medal in the freestyle skiing big air event for.....China?

I hate to say it but China is racing to the top of the world at warp speed and some Americans with divided loyalties are picking China's side.

I also see where a member of the Russian Olympic Committee is under investigation for a banned substance, imagine that...

From SI.com:

Through the first four nights of competition, NBC is on track for the lowest-rated Winter Games in history. Friday night’s coverage on NBC, USA Network and Peacock averaged 12.8 million viewers, significantly down from the 27.8 million average in PyeongChang four years ago.

Looks like the athlete is their 15 year old figure skater who landed the first quad jump in women's olympic figure skating history.

Usually you see this when that person wouldn't make the US squad.  This was, obviously, not the case here.
