Georgetown looking…

Featured Replies

Coach O's family is from Ohio so he's a little bit closer. Recruiting will surely be easier in Georgetown as opposed to Columbia... but besides that, this seems like a lateral move and he has shown that he can still dominate GTown even in Columbia where is he treated like almost like the other president of the college. I wonder why he would have left. Has to be a significant pay raise I would assume. Why else would you leave something you've built for another NAIA school?

I think you answered your own question with the first two sentences.

I have never been to LWC but what is the comparison in facilities.  I am assuming with the Bengals hanging out in Gtown the facilities might be better there....

You might say it is a lateral but maybe he sees a higher ceiling that he can grow something bigger in GTown....

LWC has amazing facilities. They did it right when they restarted the program. The facilities at GC are good, but not as new as Lindsey.

Your second point may be a dead ringer.

HS fans can breathe now.

Great hire for the Tigers, an excellent recruiter. If you can't beat them, hire them.

Facilities get outdated quickly without upgrades. The Bengals haven't been in town for about 10 years.

I'd argue the facilities are much better at Lindsey Wilson. Oliver has done a nice job recruiting in Kentucky, and he also did a good job getting kids from Tennessee and Alabama. Will he still be able to do that at Georgetown? Does he aim more toward Ohio and Indiana (where there are many more NAIA schools to compete against)? Georgetown has slipped in prestige but it's still a name program that just hired a big name coach. You can win big there.

My guess is plans are in works for facility, and he got a big pay raise.

Wait? Oliver as in LWC Oliver? Huh I thought his program at LWC was doing so well.

It was.

Won a national title last season and played in the national semi-finals this season.

Hate it for LWC.  They have already name DC Kleckner as Head Coach.

Chris Oliver is a really good coach and better man.  My guess is he got a substantial raise and let’s face facts, Georgetown has more than Columbia.  From a football perspective, this is a step back IMO.  3 straight trips to national semis is hard to leave behind, but they did lose quite a bit to graduation this year.

Interested to see who is on his staff once he gets settled in.  If he gets the players he got at LWC, watch out.
