Pretty sure those aren't guidelines but rather recommendations. Big difference.

Even with a vaccine people will still get the corona. Eventually we have to decide to stop living in fear and move on.

Semantics if you ask me, they are not laws so they are nothing more than words on paper or put another way meaningless.

From what I have seen around town, it looks like a lot of kids are out playing together anyway. Not sure how doing so in a official capacity for a youth sports organization really changes anything.

Looking at those guidelines, I don't see how travel ball would even be possible. Can't play travel ball if you can't travel outside your hometown or county. There are many situations where you can't avoid players being less than 6 feet apart. At least two players are sharing the ball every pitch. And not to mention, it's going to be nearly impossible to police or enforce many of these rules, and many fields won't be able to accomodate many of these recommendations.

The good news is these aren't guidelines for High School sports. The bad news is there are no guidelines for HS Sports. Social distancing still scares me, and is in my eyes the biggest threat to football. As long as that's still a thing, I don't see how you can have normal football. My fear is that numbers are going to take a big hit this year, and if the season gets cancelled, who knows what the future holds. At some point, we are going to have to learn to live with this.

It doesn't change anything other than it teaches the children the adults are a few fries short of a happy meal.

When you drill down just a little things are business as usual.

It is time to say "be as safe as you can and there are no more restrictions."

Those guidelines are cuckoo-for-cocoa-puffs and deep down we all know it.

I don't think they are anywhere close to practical, and if these were mandated by law, you wouldn't see any youth baseball this summer. While I'm ok with how the KHSAA handled things through the first couple months, I'm disappointed that we haven't seen any plans, or statements to at least what they are thinking about. Other states are out ahead of this and being proactive, where I feel like the KHSAA is being reactive. That's never a plan for success, and only sets you up to be behind in executing a plan. The official start of the fall seasons are less than 8 weeks away, and we've got nothing.

Right now the KHSAA is a nothing burger so I think it makes sense for the KHSAA to sit back while the "lunatic fringe" burns out.

Every batted ball is a home run. Hit the ball between two fielders and they can't go toward one another for fear of coming within 6 feet. Batter runs around the bases when nobody picks up the pitched and batted ball. Umpire calls time to have the bases and plate disinfected before play resumes.

I'm sure these "guidelines" were formulated in a boardroom by "healthcare professionals" who don't understand the nature of the actual game they are regulating.

What it shows is just how far "out in left-field" they really are.

Like many on here, it's nice to come up with guidelines and recommendations but they also impossible to enforce, let alone actually play the game. The KHSAA does have a bit more time on their hands to make realistic guidelines.

Jason Frakes of Courier Journal tweeted earlier today that KHSAA will be meeting Thursday afternoon. I assume they will be addressing the dead period that expires at end of month. Question is if it gets extended or guidance to start workouts.

A healthcare professionals job is to keep people healthy, not appease people whining from the stands.

I still think football will be normal in the fall. The NFL will soon announce they will proceed with full stadiums and that will start the domino effect IMO.

I don't know that there is anything to address regarding the dead period, as the regular dead period is up next on the calendar (June 24th-July 9th). I can't imaging that they would cancel the normal dead period, as many coaches, parents, and players look forward to that and likely have stuff planned. Cancelling the normal dead period would create a whole slew of potential issues. I think a best case scenario is fall sports starting as normal right after the normal dead period ends on July 9th. I still believe for that to happen though, we need to have moved away from the social distancing recommendations. Those would likely even prevent teams from doing small group work, as there would still be physical contact, sharing of equipment, etc.

Personally, I'm ready to get back, and get the season started, and am willing to do whatever it takes to start on time on July 10th.
