May 4, 20197 yr I cannot imagine the blow this would be to the jockey and trainer if the stewards overturn the result. Vegas has gotta be turning upside down.
May 4, 20197 yr Not a horse racing fan, but that decision was just horrible. If it had been the horse in the middle, I could've seen the possibility, but not the "winner". Honestly don't care if I watch another Derby in my life after this one.
May 4, 20197 yr I turned on the race 30 seconds before post time. I stood right up against my TV and was amazed with all the great camera work and then boom! I said to myself "no way that is fair racing, that lead horse/jockey is blocking."

May 4, 20197 yr I hate the call. But I did see the issue live during race. I did not think they would rule it obstruction though. But my son, who did a stint at Twin Spires, said “they are going to DQ.” No hesitation after he watched the replay. Oh well.
May 4, 20197 yr I think a terrible decision to overturn it. Before televised horse racing, not a chance it would have happened.
May 5, 20197 yr Watching the race, immediately when that horse swerved out I said to everyone in the room there's going to be an inquiry. I'm happy no one got hurt. That was absolutely dangerous in my opinion. Maximum Security swerved at least 2, perhaps 3, lanes out. He did cause the 20 horse to break stride and go wide. I don't think the stewards had any other choice. If it wasn't the Kentucky Derby, that decision would have taken about 30 seconds.

May 5, 20197 yr For those saying bad decision, go back and watch the race again. They are darn lucky that War of Will did not go down which would have caused a chain reaction of catastrophic proportions. If not for Derby, the change would have been made before the horse even got to the winners circle. Nobody at fault, but horse seemed to shy from the crowd and moved out a couple of spots. Not sure War of Will does not win the race if not bumped and impeded.
