One view was scary. It showed War of Will's forelegs between Maximum Security's hindlegs for a couple of strides as M. S. cut over. That could've been disastrous as tightly bunched the field was. Could M.S.'s rider have controlled his mount better? He said the crowd spooked the horse.

What? This is not NASCAR where the vehicle is a non living being and the driver is secured with seat belts and roll cages. Jockeys being allowed to block one another would lead to accidents where horses would need to be euthanized on the track nd jockies rushed to the ER and worse possibly.

Easy call. If this had been a claiming race on a random Thursday afternoon, the stewards would have deliberated for about 30 seconds. They were essentially hunting for a reason not to do it.

Love everything about horse racing and the Derby. Have been to the Oaks several times and the Derby twice. Good times, but now I prefer to avoid the crowds and traffic and watch it from home.

Saez said that he was spooked by the crowd when they interviewed him during the inquiry. Said that's why he stepped out and that he thought he settled him before it was an issue.

How is that? Country House placed with the interference. Are you thinking War of Will would have finished ahead of Country House as well as Maximum Security with no interference?

I just watched the incident again and I am amazed that War of Will did not go down. Amazing. That would have been a horrible disaster.

 

War of Will's trainer said the only reason he didn't file an inquiry is his horse ended up 8th so moving up one place was not much of a gain. He said no doubt Maximum Security fouled.
