UL has played 2 tough teams all year. For a game and 1/2 of that he was great. For the last 1/2 he wasnt good at all, even though I dont think its all his fault.

 

Woodson is having a great season and by the numbers alone I believe hes the best QB in the SEC. I think hes going to be able to play in the NFL someday!

The only reason the hadn't dropped out was because of an undeserved pre-season ranking. They dropped out the next week and we now know how good they aren't.

Considering Brohm came out of HS as the #1 or 2 QB in the nation, what he's accomplishing is probably below expectations....He's only hitting on 60% of his pass attempts which to me, is not great, considering the receiving corp and OL he's working behind..He also has a great offensive minded coach in Petrino...I don't think anyone on here would consider Brooks a good offensive coach, if anything, very generic..In addition, the competition level is much more difficult on UKs side...Brohm would probably still be considered the better prospect, but, imo, no way is he a top 5 pick this year..He maybe 1 day, but, not right now..Woodson isn't either, but, maybe 1 day as well...

I think it is pretty cool that both QB's are from the state of Kentucky and both are playing well. :thumb:

^ He wouldn't have as many TD's...U of L rushes for quite a bit of TD's they have every since Brian has been at Louisville.

 

Here's some interesting numbers:

 

Brohm's touchdown passes by yardage:1, 57, 56,1, 7, 5 for an average of 21.0.

 

Woodson's touchdown passes by yardage:73, 4, 80, 10, 35, 17, 26, 22, 1, 3, 19, 24, 42, 9, 16, 18, 33, 5, 10, 6, 29, 27, 57, 6 for an average of 23.8

 

4 of Brohm's 6 td passes or 67% are for less than 10 yards.

 

7 of Woodson's 24 passes or 29% are for less than 10 yards.

 

2 of Brohm's td passes or 33% came from outside the red zone.

 

11 of Woodson's td passes or 46% came from outside the red zone.

 

It would appear that Brohm is far more likely to get his touchdowns in the red zone than what you think. It would also appear that Woodson has made a bunch of big plays as evidenced by the length of his touchdowns.

Woodson is not playing like he did last year, and that is the sole reason for this thread. He has improved more in one season than almost any player I've seen. Brohm is certainly the more highly touted quarterback, but the numbers are hard to ignore. Louisville probably has more talented playmakers on their roster than Kentucky, but it seems to me like Woodson has put up the better numbers with possibly an inferior amount of talent around him and most certainly against a tougher schedule.

 

You think the fact that UK has actually stayed relatively healthy this year (specifically Keenan Burton) has anything to do with his dramatic improvement? The fact is, when Woodson had something close to a full arsenal he looked very good last year. Woodson is a good QB, and if UK hadn't been decimated with injuries, people would have known that last year.

 

There are things he can improve on...just like every other QB. His potential is big. I would hesitate to say he's better than Brian Brohm...just like I would hesitate to call the comparison silly.

Brian Brohm vs. Rutgers was what Andre Woodson faced in almost every game last year. We saw how Andre performed...and we saw how Brian performed. It's hard to compare these guys because one is in a far superior situation and that has a huge impact in football.

 

I do think Woodson has more raw, physical potential. But, Brian is smarter and more polished. That's why I wouldn't be so quick to write this comparison off as silly...it will be a lot easier for Andre to become a smarter, more polished QB than for Brohm to make up a physical difference.

You're right....you know more than 1,000s of experts, scouts, etc...AND know more than the U of L staff that watches all of the QB's everyday. I can't believe that we are all being mislead like this....what a tragedy, sorry.

 

Thanks for acknowledging my superior ability to evaluate talent. I am just an outside observer but sure looks to me like Hunter Cantwell gets the short end of the stick. Hard to beat out a Trinity boy in Louisville especially when the coaches son is the current starting QB at the T.

Yeah.

Woodson has a higher passer rating (149.7 vs 146.5) 4 times as many touch downs (24 vs 6) and only 3 more INTs (7 vs 4).

 

And UofLs Heisman candidate running back has been out the whole season, and Brohm still has ZERO multiple touchdown games compared to Woodson's SEVEN.

Both are very good QB's. The state of kentucky should be proud of both of these fine young men.
