No offense 02Ram54, but you dig for stats on every other subject to make your case, probably more so than anyone else. If the stats were inverse of what they are right now, I have a hard time believing you would be arguing the other way

I use stats to back up points, but you'll never catch me arguing that stats are the end all, be all, or that the situation doesn't matter. For example, my defense of Sheray Thomas earlier this year- if you judge him just by stats, you have to wonder why Tubby has't found a place to hide the body yet. But the guy had a medical setback, and in my opinion is as good an option at the 4 as any UK has. I certainly can't argue that with stats, but there it is.

 

I have to say though, that if Brohm had Woodson's stats, ON TOP of the scoring running game he plays with and the injuries he's had in the past year, Brohm would officially be a candidate for Captain of the Universe.:lol:

Pretty similar situation, IMO. I don't think anyone is saying stats are all that matter, but there ARE people saying they DON'T matter, which is ludicrous.

If I'm drafting a QB then I'd go with Brohm and I never would have dreamed this thread before the season. I don't think there is any question that Woodson has had the better year with not as good of an OL against a MUCH tougher schedule!

Brohm is great and has always seemed very composed but I think the Rutgers game was a chink in the armour because that is the first time I've seen him at Trinity or UofL with A LOT of pressure on him. He has ALWAYS been surrounded with great talent too. I still think he is one of the best QB's in the Nation and will be a great pro but Woodson has outplayed him this year which is a pat on the back to Woodson and his QB coach!

Anyone see that "audible" with 4 seconds on the play clock at Tennessee this weekend...

This argument is simply very weak. We can watch both Brohm and Woodson and we will see mistakes like this on both sides. Brohm against Rutgers couldnt do a thing against that defense in the 2nd half. He failed to make the right audibles to get UL in a situation to move the football. We can say the same thing for Woodson against LSU.

I don't think this is ever going to get settled. I have posted twice. They are both excellent QB's that this state can be proud of.

And this is not just any mistake. It's a mistake that happened to Woodson because of his lack of reading and check-making skills. This is an area where Brohm is considered top notch. Joker can take all the blame he wants, that's what a coach should do, particularly since the coaches have allowed Woodson the crutch of audibles coming in from the sidelines all season.

 

Like I posted earlier...it shouldnt have mattered with the missed kicks. KY should have been setting up for the winning FG.

Two completely different results if you ask me....but Brian was trying to audible...they couldn't be heard...that's why they went to a silent count, which gave an already lightening quick DL more of an advantage on the OL.

Why would a silent count give an advantage to the D-line over the o-line?

The O-line generally knows the count, therefore they are ready for the snap of the ball. The D-line always has to go by the movement of the ball. When an offense has to go to a silent count...the o-line has to change it's MO and go by ball movement as well. Therefore, the D-line has the advantage.
