November 17, 200619 yr Yeah.. well those are also the only two games THIS YEAR that they've been behind by 20+ or more. Brohm may be the better QB, but this inability of so many people to even CONSIDER Woodson might be better is really amusing. It should be expected though, since Brohm has also been called better than Peyton Manning in this thread. Wake up people. Woodson is for real. For the record, here is mine.... 1) This is an opinion poll and mine is Brohm 2) I think most are considering Woodson, some chose him and some not 3) I've never eluded to Manning, but rather Brohm and Woodson 4) Woodson is a very good QB 5) I still like Brohm, if these are the two choices....:thumb:
November 17, 200619 yr Okay, let's refigure their entire career stats. My mistake. I did not include Andre's frosh stats. I forgot he played any as a frosh. BROHM (3 seasons) 388/588 (66%) for 5488 yards 31 TD's (5.3%) & 11 INTs (1.9%) WOODSON (3 seasons) 447/746 (60%) for 5203 yards 34 TD's (4.6%) & 15 INT's (2.0%) Woodson's completion % is the same as it was before, but INT ratio went down. That means there is only 1/100 of a percentage difference in their INT ratio. I don't see there being a huge difference in their career stats. However, Brohm does have a better supporting cast and better rushing game. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Brohm and think it is terrific that we have 2 excellent QB's from the state playing in the state so well at the D1 level. There is alot of post on here that I want to comment on, but this one right here says it all...First of all there has not been a single person on here that has said that Woodson is not having the better year, because he is. But to take what he is doing this year, and now say he is the better QB is really funny. Yes he has closed the gap between the alot this year, but he is still not better than Brohm AT THIS POINT. But since alot of you want to look at the stats to say who is the better QB then here we go. As you all see Woodson has thrown 158 more passes than Brohm in their career. So you should think then that Woodson would have alot more TD passes than Brohm right? But no he only has 3 more td passes with alot more attempts. Also even though Brohm hasn't thrown as many passes, he still has 285 yards more passing than Woodson. Then interception wise when it comes to percentages they are pretty much even, but since you all want to keep using the statistics then Brohm technically is better. Then finally the completion percentage where Brohm is 66% while Woodson is only 60%. So going by the stats like you all want to keep using then Brohm is BETTER! I know some of you will say that well those stats shouldn't really count because Woodson has gotten better than those years when he didn't do much. But if you would say that then Brohms stats this year when he is not doing as good as normal shouldn't matter as much either, because its not like he has gotten worse through the years in college, its just that his stats just are not there this year. But does that mean he is not a good QB anymore? There are going to be years when a certain QB has better stats than another QB but that doesn't mean that QB is automatically better than. Woodson has improved greatly this year, and its been awesome to see, and he definitely has closed the gap between him and Brohm by alot. But he is still not to the point where he is better that Brohm YET. I think the best post out of everyone was when someone said if Brohm was at UK he would be starting over Woodson still, and if Woodson was at UL than Brohm still would be starting over Woodson. The reason that would be because the coaches would play the better QB, and the better QB RIGHT NOW is still Brohm...

It should be expected though, since Brohm has also been called better than Peyton Manning in this thread. Wake up people. Woodson is for real. I admit I dont agree at all with the people comparing Brohm to Peyton. But have you not read this thread, I have not seen anywhere where a person has not said Woodson is doing great this year. We all know that Woodson is for real now, and its awesome. I know I love it because he has gotten UK back into a bowl. But just because we think Brohm is better still, doesn't mean that we dont know that Woodson is good now too...
November 17, 200619 yr I'm just glad this question can seriously be asked. It bodes well for my beloved Wildcat football team... I think there is some consideration to be made, but at this point you still have to go with Brohm. If Woodson delivers another big season next year and Brohm doesn't do anything spectacular, then all bets are off.
November 17, 200619 yr So throwing more td passes automatically makes them the better QB? Give me a break...Im sure Joe Montana wasn't leading the league every year in td passes, and that someone was throwing more than him, but does that mean that QB was better than him? I know Woodson is a UK player and us UK fans always want to stick up for our players, and definitely dont want to say a UL player is better than a UK player. And I mean Woodson has had an unbelievable year, and his stats are definitely better than Brohm. But I am a UK fan and really dont like UL at all, but be realistic people, Brohm right now is still the better QB than Woodson. Now if Woodson keeps improving all the time like he did this year, then yeah he could one day be better than Brohm but he is still not better than him yet... Just the contrary. UK fans are always quick to get on their own players especially their QB's. Woodson is an easy target to pick on if he does not perform. He has always had the tools and regardless of the reasons (Brohms injuries, Woodson's extra work over the summer, etc.) Woodson is emerging as the better QB. This debate will be settled 5 years from now and hopefully saved in the BP's archives when Woodson is starting everyday in the NFL and Brohm is coaching in the toybowl of the LCSAA.

You know that I am a die-hard UK fan right? I dont like UL at all, but I also see that Brohm right now is still better. I will say one thing about your post that is true, and that is Woodson is emerging as the better QB with how much he has improved this year, but right now he is still now the better QB. And maybe one day he will be and I will love to see that. Wow one thing is for sure 5 years from now you better be right, because if Woodson isn't starting everyday and Brohm is a star in the NFL then your post definitly will be brought back up. Because with Woodson only having one good season, and not really doing great against the 3 big time opponents they played this year, that you still will say right now that Woodson will be starting every day in the NFL and Brohm will be at home is pretty funny. Now I hope your right about Woodson and he is starting in the NFL someday, but to say that he will be starting and Brohm will be sitting at home is kind of out there...

November 17, 200619 yr Yeah, we got it the first time. Several people, including myself, have stated that Brohm has had a better career so far. But currently, Woodson is playing better.

November 17, 200619 yr And not a single person on here has questioned that... Not sure if I agree with that or not. Many people have argued that had Brohm played all 9 games, that his stats would be similar. So that kind of implies that Woodson only has better stats because Brohm was injured. At least that's what it appears to me.
November 17, 200619 yr This thread looks like a clear battle of which side you're on. Louisville fans are talking careers, while UK fans are talking about this year. Many of the Louisville fans insist on talking about the careers of the two, maybe because this year statistically, Woodson is having the better year. And as I mentioned in an earlier post of mine, Woodson is clearly more valuable to his team than Brohm. But the title of the thread is simply "Brohm vs. Woodson." It doesn't say which has had a better career. So I don't see why Louisville is throwing a fit when we talk stats. Yes, I admit, Brohm has had a better career. But that's not necessarily what the thread is about. Louisville insists on talking down to the rest of us, probably, because we're not from Louisville or we don't cheer for their precious Cardinals. They insist on defending everything Louisville regardless of the situation. Just like with Brad Durham. I know it's been covered for weeks, so I won't say anything other than this isn't the first time Petrino has pulled a scholarship from somebody. He actually did it to a player that was on campus and had actually played in games. Pitiful.

The reason that would be because the coaches would play the better QB, and the better QB RIGHT NOW is still Brohm... 1. As per the stats: Brohm 5.3% TD ratio to attempts; Woodson 4.6% TD ratio to attempts. Brohm does lead that category by .7%. To be tied, Woodson would have to have 8 more TDs than Brohm, so he is 5 TD's behind. I don't think 5 is a 'lot' of TD passes, but I could be wrong. But I posted the percentage on my initial post which you quoted. 2. I stated that there wasn't a great deal of difference in their career stats, and I stand by that. I can read what I post and my comment was "I don't see there being a huge difference in their career stats". Is Brohm ahead in the career stats category? Abso-posi-lutely! But not by a huge margin. 3. I don't see you disagreeing that Brohm has a better cast around him. Was that inaccurate? The fact is that both QB's have had 1 excellent season, .. Brohm's last year before his knee injury and Woodson's this season. My comments in earlier posts stated clearly that Brohm was the better QB and I still believed he would also be a better NFL QB at this point in their development, however, you seem to take everything positive about Woodson as a slam on Brohm. Brian is more polished and Andre is still knocking the edges off of his game. My point was simple, ... Brohm is ahead of Woodson overall (the stats bear that out) but Andre has closed the gap significantly. If you based your opinion on just this season, Andre has been better. However, over the past 3 years who is the best between them,. ... well the stats and most all should agree that would be Brohm. But the impression many of us are getting is that anyone stating the Woodson is even on the same planet with Brohm should be shot for being moronic heretics. They are both excellent college QB's and we should be happy for both and not take it as a personal insult that another QB is getting some love across the state and country for that matter. There is enough room in our state to have 2 good QB's. It worked when we had Couch and Redmon, why not for these 2 fine young men? For the record, I have NEVER said that Woodson was better than Brohm, ... just that he was having a better year and wasn't that far behind him on career stats.
November 17, 200619 yr Can we go with games played, including that Brian only played in spots as a freshman. That can be said for both. But since the entire career thing was brought up, I just wanted to paint the total picture. I still think Brohm is better. But Andre has closed the gap. I hope they both finish like gangbusters and have HUGE games in bowls somewhere. After all, they are both instate kids!!! :thumb:
November 17, 200619 yr           I have to agree with you Deuce. For any fan to make the bold statement that Woodson will be starting in the NFL and Brohm would be coaching the Toy Bowl is ridiculous. We cannot make such assumptions about the future for either of these young men yet.

We cannot make such assumptions about the future for either of these young men yet. You need to read my post again. I never said that Woodson would be an NFL QB and Brohm would be in the Toy Bowl. You need to go back and check again. That was some other person on here. I think they both could be in the NFL. But if only one of them was going to be, it would probably be Brohm.
