November 28, 200619 yr Two completely different results if you ask me....but Brian was trying to audible...they couldn't be heard...that's why they went to a silent count, which gave an already lightening quick DL more of an advantage on the OL. Yeah Im sure 100,000+ fans at UT on the goal line were nice and quiet so Woodson could execute the audible.

November 28, 200619 yr Author Is it true that he doesn't have the liberty to call it on his own? If it is, it is a clear mark against him in any debate about who is the better QB... I see him make plenty of checks on his own.
November 28, 200619 yr Author So why not on such a huge play??? That's the thing... he was trying to check... just did it too late.
November 28, 200619 yr Is it true that he doesn't have the liberty to call it on his own? If it is, it is a clear mark against him in any debate about who is the better QB... I honestly do not know. The thing is, its not Woodson's decision, it is the coaches decision so I find it hard to blame Woodson. I wouldnt call it a mark agaisnt Woodson so much as, if Brohm is giving more responsibility a mark in his favor. My point is, I see a lot of valid points on both sides of the Woodson-Brohm debate. And I do give the slight edge to Brohm. But I simply think the Delay-of-Game call does not say much about who is the better QB.
November 28, 200619 yr That's the thing... he was trying to check... just did it too late. Anyone think Brohm would have been flagged on the delay of game like Woodson was? Especially since he calls his own audibles and doesn't have to look to the sideline? That's not Ram's claim. I didn't get to see it because I was working. I'm just curious as to who calls the checks at UK...

Calling your own checks is part of being a great QB. If Woodson is not given that chance, isn't it clear there is a reason behind it. OR claims he sees Woodson call a lot of checks on his own. Which is it? I would seriously like to know. It's a factor in this debate...
November 28, 200619 yr That's not Ram's claim. I didn't get to see it because I was working. I'm just curious as to who calls the checks at UK... My understanding is that UK made 3 substitutions and the 3 subs did not make it to the huddle until under 15 seconds to go. Obviously there should have been a timeout, but Woodson was put in a bad situation on the play.

Like I said, I do not know, we also have to understand Brohm has more experience than Woodson playing more as a freshmen and having a brother as the QB coach, he is going to be given more freedom. It does appear he does his own checkdowns as he usually seems to make changes from the line of scrimmage.
November 28, 200619 yr Yeah Im sure 100,000+ fans at UT on the goal line were nice and quiet so Woodson could execute the audible. I never mentioned anything about Woodson and the audible..to the contrary I said that I thought it was his best game of the year....chill out.

He's also never missed time for rehab. Woodson makes some calls himself, but Randy Sanders sends in a lot of the audibles in-game. Here's the C-J's fan blog freaking out over it after the South Carolina game, where it happpened a lot.
November 28, 200619 yr Author Sanders sends some in... usually in the no-huddle which UL doesn't run right? To say Woodson isn't allowed to check off by himself is wrong.
