I bet if you had Montana coming off ACL knee surgery, and then missing two games because of an injury to his throwing hand. That you might have just seen someone come close to throwing 4 times as many td passes as him...

 

It really now has become laughable listening to some of you all about the stats. There are alot more things involved than just seeing what the stat sheet says, and if you all will open your eyes a little bit and look at everything you will see that.

 

Trust me if Woodson really was the better QB I would be right along with you all. Because I would love nothing more than to talk about how are QB is better than UL's QB. Because it is always nice having better things than UL, but right now that is just not the case. Brohm is still the better QB than Woodson. I mean Woodson one day maybe if he keeps improving like this will be better than Brohm and I would love to see that. But right now he still is not...

I guess if Brohm was a St. X grad, played for UK, and Woodson a Trinity grad, playing for UL, and the stats being what they are now, you would have the same point of view? I seriously doubt it.

One bad game for Brian (actually half)...and Brian is having a season of inferior performances? If all things were equal i would gladly agree...

What I don't understand is the some of the same people who ALWAYS use statistics to back up their argument, now are dismissing statistics, and refuse to give Woodson the nod STATISTICALLY this season. The hipocrisy really makes it hard for me to even read some of their posts.

You can only compare apples to apples in statistical situations...Brian was hurt for 2.5 games...then played through it for 2 more...while still throwing for 350 in one of them....we have all conceded Woodson's numbers are better this year.

Brohm also missed a few games, so that means even more passes that Woodson has had and Brohm hasn't...

 

Correct, so lets take a peek at their per game averages.

 

TDs per game:

Brohm - 0.8

Woodson - 2.5

 

So I guess we'll give Brohm 2 more TDs on the season for missing 2.5 games. Woodson is still WAY ahead.

Okay, let's refigure their entire career stats. My mistake. I did not include Andre's frosh stats. I forgot he played any as a frosh.

 

BROHM (3 seasons)

388/588 (66%) for 5488 yards 31 TD's (5.3%) & 11 INTs (1.9%)

 

WOODSON (3 seasons)

447/746 (60%) for 5203 yards 34 TD's (4.6%) & 15 INT's (2.0%)

 

Woodson's completion % is the same as it was before, but INT ratio went down. That means there is only 1/100 of a percentage difference in their INT ratio. I don't see there being a huge difference in their career stats. However, Brohm does have a better supporting cast and better rushing game.

 

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Brohm and think it is terrific that we have 2 excellent QB's from the state playing in the state so well at the D1 level.

 

Can we go with games played, including that Brian only played in spots as a freshman.

If you asked me 3 months ago, I would say Brohm hands down. But considering (and I'll probably get slammed for saying this) Brohm is playing with a better supporting cast. I think Woodson's numbers would be HUGE if he played at Louisville. If I read the earlier posts correctly, Brohm has 6td/4int? Really? I just assumed he had more. Let's face it, the schedule hasn't been the toughest. I realize niether has UK's. But the number's aren't even close. Yeah, Brohm missed 2 games. But unless he was going to throw like 15 tds in those two games, that's a weak argument. I would've expected his production to go up since Bush got injured.

You do know that if Woodson was at UL...he would have a lot mroe mental responsibility, and a lot more success on the ground, thus diminishing some of his statistics.

Just noticed this thread....If given a choice, of whom I would take as QB, no question.

Stats are often a result of a teams, ineptness and quality of opponent. Louisville has played much better teams, over the same time frame where Brohm has been productive and Woodson hasn't.

 

Woodson has progressed amazingly well this year...but its still, this year and to be the QB, in one of the most balanced and efficient systems like Louisville, I'll take Brohm.

So what you're saying is that Brohm would've thrown 15 tds in those two games? That's how many he trails by. That's pretty impressive. He's only thrown 6 in 7 games, but in those 2 games he was going to throw 15 if he had played? Is that what you're saying?

How many rushing TD's would UK have have had in those two games?

A passer rating can be achieved in limited opportunities. Throwing 4 times as many touchdown passes as another player with similar attempts cannot.

Check out the rushing TD's of any of those teams.

I think alot of Woodson supporters are missing the point here. This year's KY team was supposed to be Offensively supported by the legs of Little. Now UK hasn't ran the ball that well all year, but that has really opened up the pass. Burton staying healthy all year has something to do with it also. Woodson is good, but he'll never be feared like B. Brohm. The only difference I see between the talent level at UK and Lou. is at QB and on the Defensive side of the ball. Teams play UK run first, or at least they did earlier this year. And Woodson gets most of his good stats against the better teams when the game is pretty much decided. Brohm does remind alot of people of Peyton, but I don't think he'll have as much trouble winning the big one. And yes, Rutgers is better than LSU. I don't think you'll ever see B. Brohm QB a goose-egg game like Woodson did. As for the comparison of stats, a Goose-egg speaks volumes. More than any TD pass.

 

 

Rutgers better than LSU? LSU has played UT, Florida, Auburn. and Arkansas just to name a few teams they have faced this year. Rutgers have played 1 good team all year. IMO Rutgers would be no where close to undefeated playing LSU schedule.

Woodson has one good year and some are ready to crown him, or compare him to Brohm....that is part of what's wrong with UK fans, they can't see the entire body of work, career or how a team does, they only see today....

 

Louisville has played AND defeated much better teams, than UK has....period and once UK can consistently compete in the nationally ranked games, against strong opponents and have a balanced offensive attack, then this discussion might be worthy.

 

Finally winning an SEC game, against a ranked team is not consistency, which Brohm has brought.

This thread looks like a clear battle of which side you're on. Louisville fans are talking careers, while UK fans are talking about this year. Many of the Louisville fans insist on talking about the careers of the two, maybe because this year statistically, Woodson is having the better year. And as I mentioned in an earlier post of mine, Woodson is clearly more valuable to his team than Brohm. But the title of the thread is simply "Brohm vs. Woodson." It doesn't say which has had a better career. So I don't see why Louisville is throwing a fit when we talk stats. Yes, I admit, Brohm has had a better career. But that's not necessarily what the thread is about. Louisville insists on talking down to the rest of us, probably, because we're not from Louisville or we don't cheer for their precious Cardinals. They insist on defending everything Louisville regardless of the situation. Just like with Brad Durham. I know it's been covered for weeks, so I won't say anything other than this isn't the first time Petrino has pulled a scholarship from somebody. He actually did it to a player that was on campus and had actually played in games. Pitiful.

 

Who's the better QB? It's an endless debate. Who's had the better career? Brohm. Who would I take right now? Woodson.
