Wan'Dale Robinson flips commitment to Nebraska

Featured Replies

The theory isn’t far fetched. Applying it this season is. He was clearly Mr. Football this season. I can’t recall a bigger slam dunk to win it in recent years.

And this year’s first Mr. Football award was voted on by the coaches. He won the KFCA Mr. Football award. This was their first year ever having the award.

The AP Mr. Football hasn’t been announced yet. It is the one voted on by the reporters.

My mistake, I wasn't aware of that.

I am not implying it because I think someone else deserved it more than he did. I am implying it because of the timing of it all.

I hear you. And you definitely aren’t alone. I just have a hard time believing that he 1.) needed to commit to UK to win Mr. Football and 2.) would purposely commit to UK only to secure the award.

When I read his statement that he wrote today it seemed clear that he chose UK for everyone except himself and he seemed to have a hard time living with that choice. I am glad he is making a choice that he is comfortable with and I hope it works out for him. I hate to read some of the crazy things folks are saying but it is what it is.

Good luck to the young man in his future.

Gotta go where you’re the happiest and content and that’s what he did.

Wise decision IMO with seeing what Frost did offensively at UCF. With time Nebraska will be there and Wandale will be a part of it. Good luck Wandale!

Well that's disappointing as a Kentucky fan, but apparently he feels that is best for him.

Anybody else got the vibe that he might have committed to Kentucky to win Mr. Football, and then flipped to the school he wanted to go to all along?

No way. Wandale is destined for bigger and better things. Winning the Mr Football award doesn’t change that, nor provide any real benefit aside from another trophy to put on his shelf. I’m not saying it isn’t a nice award to win, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s simply not important enough to put a scheme like this in motion.

It never felt like he wanted UK anyway.

I certainly wish the kid the best.

Yes because only players who are committed to UK have won Mr. Kentucky Football....

sarcasm. right? I hope?

Again, I'm not saying that he didn't deserve the award regardless, but do you truly believe that a commitment to one of the in-state schools does not help your chances for the award? I mean it's not voted on by people who live in a vacuum and just watch the tape all day, it's voted on by reporters from this state. I don't see how this theory is so far-fetched.

You made me go digging.

Van Cleave did not go to UK.

Carothers - Navy

Sindelar - Purdue

Fant - WKY

Quick - Louisville

Lamar Dawson - USC

Antonio Andrews - WKY

First two were Jacobs - Notre Dame and Barber - USC

So much for that theory.

I think it’s stupid to put on some big song and dance a couple of weeks ago, to flip that fast. If you aren’t completely committed, don’t commit.

Yes of course.

And just in case it wasn't sarcasm, see post above.

Maybe so but at the same time we have no clue what kind of pressure was put on him to choose UK. From family to friends to the media UK has been pushed on him daily. I’m glad he realized he needed to make a choice for himself rather than everyone else before he signed to go to UK.

That was a pool party.

Didn’t Alexander win it and he commuted to Bama. Just adding him to the list that has already been posted.

It would of been fun to see him at UK but I don’t blame him one bit. If I was as talented as him I’d go play for Frost at Nebraska in a heartbeat. The fan support, history and playing in that offense would be a dream.
