Wan'Dale Robinson flips commitment to Nebraska

Featured Replies

Didn’t Alexander win it and he commuted to Bama. Just adding him to the list that has already been posted.

It would of been fun to see him at UK but I don’t blame him one bit. If I was as talented as him I’d go play for Frost at Nebraska in a heartbeat. The fan support, history and playing in that offense would be a dream.

I’m thinking he’s looking at Damien Harris

Maybe so but at the same time we have no clue what kind of pressure was put on him to choose UK. From family to friends to the media UK has been pushed on him daily. I’m glad he realized he needed to make a choice for himself rather than everyone else before he signed to go to UK.

I could get more on board with it had it been last year. It was just a couple of weeks ago.

And just in case it wasn't sarcasm, see post above.

It was 100% sarcasm.

You made me go digging.

Van Cleave did not go to UK.

Carothers - Navy

Sindelar - Purdue

Fant - WKY

Quick - Louisville

Lamar Dawson - USC

Antonio Andrews - WKY

First two were Jacobs - Notre Dame and Barber - USC

So much for that theory.

How many of those kids had offers from UK? Look, I'm not saying his choice had anything to do with the award, as a matter of fact I think PP nailed it. But there's always been talk that committing to KY helps your case.

I’m not sure what you mean. Not that it really matters since the other post was done in sarcasm.

Lawson for certain.

Quick.

I think Sindelar May have.

Antonio Andrews should have the way he beat on them when they played.

A lot of them went to better places than UK.

I hear you. At the same time I think we are all aware of how impressionable 18-19 year olds can be. I see a kid who committed to UK and had the whole state singing his praises and so happy for him and he still felt empty because he made a decision for them and not for him. I can’t be mad at him for fixing those emotions before it is too late. Had he gone to UK and been a bust the same folks praising him then would be the same folks killing him if he wasn’t any good. I’m reminded of Towles and Barker and their experiences. Imagine going through that when being at UK was never really where you wanted to go in the first place.

It was close to signing day and he had to make a hard choice. At the end of the day he is the one who needs to be 100% committed to that choice. Not his family. Not his friends. Not Matt Jones and the UK media. Him.

Kid learned a life lesson and we all had front row seats. No one was physically hurt so no one should be mad at him.

I’ll always believe that being a UK commit/signee/recruit helps your chances. There is validity to that theory. It’s a reason everytime you see Dontaie Allen’s name mentioned you also see UK signee next to his name.

Seems like I remember the talk on here being that he didn’t get Mr. Football because he chose Bama.

Gotcha yeah that was Harris not Alexander. Harris was also hurt during his sr year which had a larger impact on the votes I believe.

The timing of it all is just odd. It’s not as if UK underperformed after his commitment or Nebraska had an amazing season.

Right, the results don't represent the outcome. But this is the life in the recruiting world. One would think with the season UK had that they could get any instate recruit. But this result just supports the reason why they recruit from out of the state, not necessarily for better recruits but more so as a backup when they miss out on guys like Wandale.

Trust me, I'd love to see him in Commonwealth Stadium because he is that good. He'd play as a freshman at UK or anywhere else outside of the top 10 programs. So I think it came down to playing time. I think there is no doubt he's going to get more action at Nebraska than at UK.
